Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Their greatest mistake wasn’t changing customer service policy, moving platform or closing the forum. Getting rid of the awful poems on the back of the art prints was their greatest mistake. They made everything else in the package appear high in quality. Here’s two you can write on the back of the last two Essentials albums of the month for you completists. I do requests

Bella Donna - Stevie Nicks by Murfocakes

on a break from Lyndsey Buckingham
the spiteful nasty little man
pens perfect poems leather and lace
more than just a pretty face
stand back and bootylicious too
and the one Tom Petty did with you
Stevie your music hasn’t dated
your cover we have pixelated

The Stooges (Cale Mix) - The Stooges by Murfocakes

There was a young man called Ig
Who’s band wanted to get really big
They were produced by John Cale
Who ramped up his wail
But the record execs didn’t give a fig

I thank you...
I sense a new thread beginning

how big is your collection Nathan... if i may ask. the price seems rather high for one track.
It’s a really big collection! I have so much vinyl! 16 Kallax squares are filled with vinyl! I’ve got 19 squares but if I was to consolidate it all, it would be like 16 squares! 🗳🗳🗳🗳

So yeah, I got a pretty huge collection! 😜

The price is high for 1 track! It’s a hard call! 🥴

Those albums you buy for one track will 95% of the time sit on a shelf gathering dust. Take advice from someone older, wiser and with a ton of crap albums that I bought for one track. This month won’t exactly tempt those who joined on the 2 for 3 offer to stay around. I predict another 2 for 3 offer coming soon.

Yep, there are certain artists where as I get older I feel no shame on just going for the “Greatest Hits” or ”Singles Collection” and bypassing a bunch of average albums with one or two good tracks. So yeah @NathanRicaud i wouldn’t buy an album that i think is trash, 2/10 is an awful rating, its saying the thing has no merit, you only give a 0 or 1 for comedy value so that’s just about as bad as it gets. Stream the song you like and if in the future he does a compilation with a few other bits you like, just grab that.

Just stream the one track. I can’t tell you how many albums I’ve had when I started out that I bought for 1 song and never listen to. It’s not worth it. Save the money and, more importantly, shelf space for something else!

I mean, do what you do. of course; I just saw you break down exactly why this album is trash and then order it. I think you gave it a 2 out of 10 or something, right?

So much great stuff is popping up everyday, though. So many pre-orders hitting right now. You have a broad range of interests. I would just imagine that you could buy something else with that money and, when you played that full albums worth of jams, think to yourself how much better you allocated your funds.
Yeah, I’d give Future’s Honest like a 3/10! Yeah, I’ve been grabbing some pre-orders too! Most of my records are not from VMP! 😜

I think I’m gonna cancel the R&HH! I think I’ve just been really lenient with my spending because I got to take out $10,000 from my retirement fund and cannot currently travel. So I’ve been splurging on clothes, fitness, food, and in particular vinyl!!!

But my money is going so quick and you know what, I’m not getting Future’s Honest! It’s not worth it! And I’m also going to dramatically cut my vinyl spending from the 1st of June, 2020! It’s so bad! I’m listening to all my records, but I’m just getting too much! With me getting the $10,000, I’ve been like getting MoFi Supervinyl pressings, Analogue Productions, Speakers Corner! Like because I’ve spent $270 on a MoFi pressing, $40 for a VMP pressing is nothing in comparison. Maybe it’s that too with me originally getting Future even though I know it’s trash! Like I’m lenient and look at the positives and just think of me loving my life whilst blasting 🤷‍♂️

But for real, I’m gonna stop spending so much on vinyl! Only 7 records a month (purchases) absolute max!

Given that situation I completely agree on not getting Future. Good decision, Nathan! 🙂
(Apart from that I expect it to be available in store for a longer time anyway).

Mmmmmm this is so true! The greatest hits has to be an amazing pressing for me to want to buy it as I’m very album orientated! But what you’ve said is so true! 💯💡

Mmmmmm yeah! Space on the shelves in becoming a real issue! This makes it even easier for me to cancel out Future’s Honest! 🦅

You know what, only 5 vinyl purchases a month for real! I need to really limit the purchases because damn! I am running out of space and I live with my parents at home 😅🤫🙉

Me too. I much prefer albums BUT there are two sorts of artists that the Greatest Hits suits. One is the singles act and two is the act that has only a couple of good songs an album, some of those can have absolutely classic greatest hits records that far outstrip their conventional studio albums!

Does a box set count as 1? Asking for a friend...

Emailed CS last week about the whole 6/1 issue (being potentially charged early when my sub is to renew next month, apparently this is an issue VMP is aware of, according to one of their people on the subreddit) and I've yet to get a response. Probably will just cancel to cover my own ass because I absolutely refuse to be charged twice for an album I wouldn't even get this month if I didn't swap it.

If my kid is ever sitting on 10k, while living in my house, but spending it all on clothes and vinyl... I don't know.

Maybe, I'd just ask what he's listening to, to be honest. I like having him around.

That's Australian money, though, right? So, that's under 7k US? From how it sounds, that's almost enough to ship an album to you from the States.

I've long run out of space, myself. 16 Kallax squares... you at about 800 records? I'm trying to guess how many jelly beans are in the jar.

This company that makes money off of the product of black people, this company that employs, what, one? black person?, this company that just released a "box" set of black music and has a track devoted solely to the product of black people.....

Remains silent during this.

That is not ok.

Edit: I looked at their website, tried to look at "The Magazine" but god that site is horrible, and at their IG. I did not look at FB or Twitter or Tik Tok or anything else. Correct me if I'm wrong though, please.

“Republicans buy records too” -VMP, probably

Don't worry. They're going to release a T-Shirt with a black power fist and their logo over it. Then they're going to have the black friend do a write up on the best albums to own on vinyl during a race riot. Somehow, Da Brat will be on there.

*side note: it's much more enjoyable if you tell yourself that her name is short for Da Bratwurst

Not really a partisan issue, really. Especially, since we're discussing Minnesota and Klobuchar, but that's a can of worms nobody wants me opening up in this thread. Then again, you're probably right.

Still, I imagine it more like, "Oops. I spilled a little merlot on my dress shirt. Hey, could someone change this? Franklin and Bash is coming on."

I've been thinking about this and I know it's sometimes difficult with sudden interesting pre-orders or unannounced hot VMP exclusives coming up, but maybe a good way to follow through on this would be to kind of curate your own "record of the week", a record you feel is really good and that really is on 🔥and clicks 💯 % when you listen to it. 🙂 And just to get those.

I could totally picture them doing this. Its 100% their MO. Act fake-consious, but cross no lines, in order not to upset potential costumers. I was surprised to see huge companies like Nike or even labels like Light in the Attic release statements and take sides. However, when you realize those two companies wouldn't be nearly as successful as they are if it weren't for the gifts and effort of black people, then you see it as an act of both humanity and consistency with their business.

First off, "costumers" is one of my favorite typos ever. As for LITA, that doesn't surprise me at all. My sister is friends with Matt and told me when he started the label. The fact that they've become as well known as they have is amazing, but they are still a fairly small company in the grand scheme. They have nothing in common with NIKE and aren't concerned with that sort of thing, anyway. Which "side" would anyone expect them to take?

As for NIKE, they already used Kaepernick as the face of the company's 30th Anniversary Just Do It campaign
