We are so honored to release two tracks off the latest album from Young Gun Silver Fox. This was one of our top albums of 2018 and we get to take two choice cuts - “Take It Or Leave It & Mojo Rising” and get it on a very special Soul Step Records release.
The forces behind Young Gun Silver Fox are Andy Platts and Shawn Lee. It was inevitable that two of the UK's most prolific and versatile pop music linguists would one day collaborate on a studio project that crystallized many of their creative strengths. The authentic hybrid of styles is further steeped in the fact that Shawn, the team's silver-haired Silver Fox, is an American who resided in LA for seven years before relocating to London. "Andy understands the classic melodic pop side as well as the soul funky side that was absolutely vital to the creation of this music. What a voice!" The admiration is mutual. "A lot of people today can claim to be ‘multi-instrumentalists’ but Shawn truly is a multi-hat-wearing-cat," says Andy, the Young Gun of the duo. "Musically, his ear and ridiculous encyclopedic musical brain continues to floor me. Some of the music he generated on this album was so special I really had to dig deep to do it justice in a songwriting sense."
This is a great 45 to spin over and over and over. Young Gun Silver Fox doesn’t dismiss the term yacht rock when describing their 45 with Soul Step Records. This 45 has 70’s SoCal infused pop rock that recalls Doobie Brothers, Hall & Oates to a modern day Mayer Hawthorne.

Soul Step Records proudly announces SSR-062, two tracks from Cara Louise.
Cara Louise, is a singer songwriter from St. Louis, MO. Louise's sound combines soulful vibrato with creative melodies and honest lyricism. Major influences include 1960's pop, early 2000's indie-rock and Americana music.
Louise worked with producer David Beeman. The outcome is her EP titled Fragile Heart. The 5-song collection separates Louise from her past work with Cara Louise Band as she navigates a 1960s yé-yé-inspired production by introducing synthesizers, drum triggers and ethereal vocal effects to her otherwise alt-country sound.
Cara Louise, for fans of She & Him, Kacey Musgraves and Caroline Rose. These two tracks are pure Indie Pop & Americana bliss. Packaged lovingly in the standard Soul Step Records sleeve.

Hey does anyone else have the Pet Envy 45? If so, did you have tracking issues? My copy seems off center and gets stuck pretty much every groove. I’m guesssing it’s a bum copy... but I also just changed carts so I’m gonna check with the protractor again and probably give Demon Days a spin before I reach out to Soul Step... was just wondering if it was a widespread problem before I put in all that effort.
