Honestly these are a bit of a crap shoot regarding pressings , don't think 45 is a good price , this probably wouldn't be a RVG master so not sure what ya gonna get .A Couple on discogs from $15 . This is the Green Bullseye label from mid 70's generally not well regarded.

The Impulse Rainbow label is the one with the rainbow on it. It is confusing though, easy mistake to make if you aren't very familiar with the different labels.

Also, London Jazz Collector says the green bullseye label in your picture is indicative of a pressing with subpar sound quality. Buy with caution, I'd say. Some people completely disagree with LJC on what pressings are good or not. More info here: Impulse US labels overview

My $.02 - I would try to avoid both the green and rainbow pressing. They are wafer thin with a sound quality to match. Buyer beware.

Good to know. Appreciate the heads up. Currently looking at buying a 1961 Mono copy in “VG++” condition lol, would prefer they just say if it’s EX or not. The extra plus is making me want to pass on it, could go up to $40 for the copy would hate for it to be noisy. The woes of buying records online

Hey team. A few of you will be aware that for a while now I have been posting an album a day on my instagram account and giving it a bit of a write up, looking at the history of it and its reception etc. Its been really enjoyable and theres been a few instances where my reading up on an album has led me into a rabbit hole. I usually write these things on the train journey home but last night I was sucked in one of these rabbit holes and found something pretty cool which may interest some of you.

So, the album in question is Lee Morgan - All That Jazz. Its a 1975 live album with very little info readily available. The liner notes in the gatefold talks about Morgan and his work but is generalized and doesn't actually mention the album, other than it being a recorded live session. Well, after digging I found out that it was recorded in San Francisco at the 'Both / And Club', in the summer of June 1970. The importance of this date is that shortly after this session Morgan traveled down to Hermosa Beach to play at the Lighthouse club, the recording of which would be released as 'Live At The Lighthouse'. Plus, his gig at the Both / And club was recorded professionally for FM radio, and was played in full over the remainder of the summer, meaning this is better quality than a bootlegged/amateur recording. It was also reissued on CD in 2015 (looks to be a dodgy label though as its blocked) - Lee Morgan ‎– Both / And Club, San Francisco, June 1970

The album has a fair bit of crowd cheering towards the beginning and the end of tracks, and is a really lively set. The best bit is that this album cost me just £3, and the discogs average is £5. Compared to the £42 average for the Lighthouse album, this is well worth looking for.

No worries, I found it really interesting. The recording isn't as polished as the 'Live At The Lighthouse' but still a really great session.

I mean, as far as I'm concerned, it goes from VG+ to NM so I kind of hate VG++ and EX/EX+ ratings. Visual VG+ *shouldn't* have any noise other than pressing imperfections that were there since the beginning.

Also received mine last week. Had the slightest of warps but sounds great. Track for track I'm really enjoying this set, seems much more cohesive as a listen than some of the other (Ill Considered) projects IMO.

Fantastic! Im in the same boat, I think its perhaps the best thing they have put out to date (including the Ill Considered stuff). Hoping there isnt the same wait until the next one.
 
Just an update on the Superfly jazz records @Skalap posted the other day. I bought the Yusef Lateef - Stable Mates record and it arrived last night. Its a super rare record that rarely pops up online in any condition, yet alone the absolutely superb shape of this one. Opened it up, super excited, and theres a long bend to one side, clearly done by the shipping company. Weirdly it appears to only have bent the front cover, likely because its a thick laminated front. Its left quite a long raised line now as a result, but luckily the actual card had not cracked/bent.

This is in no way Superfly's fault (although I personally would of added additional card in the mailer (it was just a standard mailer used, with the record in 2 outer-sleeves. They very kindly offered a full refund or a generous partial refund, which I have taken. Still, the record itself looks stunning so I cant wait to give it a whirl.

Absolutely loved their self titled release from last year. A lot of great beautiful summer nights biking home to selections from it. Even had a passerby ask me who they were!

Its annoying as its genuinly really rare, so I hate to think one of the few remaining copies is now damaged. Luckily the record itself is all good!

Yes that is strange. With them being in Paris I would of assumed you would have yours way before me? Maybe the Christmas holidays have affected it? I have a big parcel I should of received yesterday but the courier had to return it to the depot because he has too many parcels to deliver and couldn't get around to getting mine to me before his work day ended.
