Fresh Grabs

Thank you, mail carriers between Texas and Pennsylvania.

These came from the collection of a man who passed away. His widow and her sister were selling them on Facebook. They are not in the greatest condition, especially the sleeves. The records inside have only light marks. I am especially pleased about the third state stereo Velvet Underground. I have another copy, but it is missing the original banana sticker. I don’t know yet if the MC5 is censored or not.

EDIT: MC5 "Kick out the Jams" is censored, bummer.

You know what, if your going to pull that kind of shit, at least make a "valid" effort to cover it up............I swear, someone needs to hire a sign guy and put up a sign at VMP central that reads "It's all about the little things"
I mean...how do they even sell a record that’s not sealed in the 1st place...and then throw a crap sleeve on outside with the hype sticker stuck on it?

Is it possible that's how it came originally? I've seen those kinds of sleeves on new records all the time, especially imports. It's hard to tell from the discogs listing. At least maybe it won't be warped from 2 years of shrinkwrap, haha.

Now a days I anything is possible, lol.........but, as I told @Crabbers , mine from VMP came sealed with the hype sticker, it would seem odd that this would be different........but again, who the hell knows.

This should not be the quality of a record someone receives from vmp...
Record unsealed, sticker stuck on crappy used reusable sleeve

I agree with others that that’s how they originally came. Yours just looks like it has a couple years worth of wear and tear.

I saw someone suggest that the “warehouse finds” were really just unsold items they carried around to their pop-up shops. Looking at your pic, I’m guessing that’s actually true.

Dinosaur, Jr. - Green Mind
Dinosaur, Jr. - Feel The Pain 7”
Dinosaur, Jr. - Where You Been

I love Dinosaur, Jr. and was really happy when I learned Cherry Red was doing deluxe reissues of some of my favorites. Green Mind is on green wax (obviously) while Where You Been is a nice deep blue color. Both come with in depth liner notes and a bonus disc of b-sides, live cuts, and a Peel Session. They were initially listed at about $40 a piece so I was initially only going to purchase my favorite Where You Been, but after some back and forth in my head I decided I needed Green Mind too but because I waited so long to pull the trigger Amazon initially ran out of Green Mind before they could ship my copy so my order was in limbo your the past couple month. Today they were finally able to get me a copy and I couldn’t be happier. The Feel The Pain 7” was something I picked up several months ago but it felt appropriate to include here. I think the fact that I already owned this probably kept me from also grabbing the deluxe Without A Sound.

View attachment 23966Whale #2 acquired this week thanks to the stupendously wonderful human being that is @EmeryRK who agreed to a trade for me in exchange for this awesome awesome record. He is also I might add steadfastly refusing to let me pay him for the shipping which was NOT CHEAP so please all of you help me make him let me pay him for the damn shipping!
Best guy ever, absolutely stoked to spin this. And along with this he also shipped a Turntable Lab LTD pressing of this:

That I bought from Cogs. I wouldn't call this a whale necessarily but it's another that I really wanted to strike off the list so that's 3 off this week. IT'S BEEN A GOOD ONE FOLKS.
It was my pleasure. :)

Some new release pick ups from SotU.

@Poly-Rythmo - I think the Selenites Band might be up your street. This is the black limited and hand numbered to 300 but there’s an orange limited to 100 if colours are your thing.
Bowman Trio is some seriously tasty contemporary European jazz. @kafunis - I think you might dig this one.
Still Moving is a four track EP. Heavy on the electronic and broken beat side of jazz, @phramenma and @Selaws - you’ll both enjoy I think.

And I finally became a big boy and got an Adam’s Apple!
