Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Good thing I didn't see this till late in the day when most of the good stuff was gone again. Got Muddy Waters w/ my credit from The Time for Peace is Now (which I was told didn't have replacement copies, but is in the store now).

Did you guys see that VMP released extras of Handsome Boy, De La Is Dead, and a ton of other's today? Kind of crazy considering they were "sold out / long gone" and people who needed replacements couldn't even get them.

YUP! Exactly what I was thinking...

I now wonder if what I grabbed today will go out with this month's shipment or next's... My November box is still pending so it might make the cutoff?

It will be December. I think the cut off is still the first. People’s boxes have started going out so all the shipping labels and package details will have been printed.

Makes sense. Assuming Beck and Mobb Deep aren't delayed (lol) my December box is starting to look a bit hefty. And who knows what they'll do for their Black Friday sale this year.

It's insane to me that they told people they had no replacements and then went and sold them after somehow finding more copies...I get it if you find a box in the warehouse or somethin with a few extra replacements, but finding so many different records doesn't seem like an accident.

Yep they’re shitty

Their logistical nouse is so poor that I think that there are probably more random boxes of old shit knocking about in some room at the back of the warehouse that saddle creek have reported to them but they’ve messed up the data.

That doesn’t absolve the shitty behaviour of today’s FOMO releasing of the albums for sale when members had requested damage replacements and been told they were out of stock.

Grabbed Comet is Coming. I've been meaning to pick that up anyway. Too bad Anqueliqe Kidjo didn't pop up.

I think it's a no-win situation. The customer service tickets of people wanting replacements for something like De La Soul have long been closed, and are considered "resolved" through either store credit or another record or whatever.

But say VMP did decide to go the extra mile, that means finding and reopening tickets and manually contacting people saying "Oh btw we now have this. You still want?" There's probably way more people who wanted replacements than copies they found. Now imagine a few dozen people get those emails and have the option to get a replacement copy. Then they go to reddit or some message board that we may or may not frequent, giddily saying they FINALLY got a replacement record, straight from VMP.

Now imagine if you wanted a replacement and VMP didn't reach out to you. You obviously hit up CS asking for a replacement but once again, too late. All gone. They already gave their five copies away to five other people. Now you're pissed. You wanted a replacement for months and they never bothered to contact you? What gives?! "How come @NewsFedora lucked out and got an email but I didn't?!"

So you can see it's a bit of a prickly situation. People are gonna be mad regardless, so they went with the path of least resistance in selling these random spare copies, where at least there is no sign of favoritism given.

I’m so confused. Is Shook Ones Pt. 11 not on The Infamous? Doesn’t appear to be on the track list on the VMP page. Am I trippin

Or, maybe just keep track of all your inventory so you don’t get in this situation at all. So you’re, you know, not having your CS tell people that there’s no way you can replace copies. It’s only a no-win situation if you let them get away with their BS at face value.

It does seem like a long-standing issue with Saddle Creek. Without direct knowledge about any contract or agreement they have with VMP I can't really speculate beyond that.
