Vinyl Me Please Anthology

It's always bugged me... "Vinyl Me, Please" is just such a dumb name.

Thanks for the write-up. Their name never really bothered me until they pasted it on the Blue Note record labels for Anthology #1. Did they keep that going on the Motowns?

When you wrote:

Do you mean the record covers, or the liner note insert thingys?

Oh sorry, to be clear, it's the liner note images of the artists. The sleeves themselves all look great so far.

I only pulled one to check but actually... no! The only VMP branding on the sleeves/records seems to be just the foil stamp VMP Anthology thing on the back, like the Classics.

Would ya mind either DMing me the titles that are in it so far or adding it in a spoiler tag? Just curious! Thanks!

That's a good thing in my opinion!

I'm curious, too, but I'll try and be patient for whenever anyone is ready to post them under the spoiler.

Cheers!

Okay you thirsty animals, here are the first three titles, DON'T CLICK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW:

Mary Wells - Bye Bye Baby I don't want to take a chance

Martha and the Vandrelles - Heat Wave

The Supremes - Where Did Our Love Go

ALSO, hey, for those with some Motown history knowledge TITLE SPOILER INSIDE DON'T CLICK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW:

Heat Wave seems to be missing its original branding/label info... I'm guessing it's a rights issue. Looks like it was originally on the Gordy label. Quick Googling tells me there were three main Motown labels, Tamla, Motown, and Gordy. I wonder how their rights work these days?

Motown had dozens and dozens of labels. Because at the time, a label could only have .... maybe 3? .... songs at once eligible to be played on the radio. Gordy found a loophole. Thus, all the various labels. But they are all under the Motown umbrella.

I learned this while on the Motown tour I took earlier this year. I highly recommend it if in Detroit.

Huh, very interesting and smart... I wonder why they didn't
use the original Gordy branding then? Presumably it's all owned by the same company, or maybe the Gordy label/branding isn't but the music rights are?

Third Man has reissued some of the Tamla 45s.

So unfair. Mine's "In Transit" the past 3 days. USPS knows just how to gut me when I'm hoping something will get to me quickly.

I GOT MY MOTOWN ANTHOLOGY BOX!

I’m about to go to the gym soon, but I can let everyone know privately what all the records are after I come back! I’m very happy with what the 2XLP is!!!

Should I just put a ‘spoiler’ and then under that, just list the other five albums???

But yeah, message me if you want to know the last 3 albums are!!! 😀

A spoiler tag should be fine.
