When they lose a customer like him there is something going wrong with the company
YES, YAASS, YEAH BABY!!!!!I forget, did Storf say if there’d be any exclusives to go with next ROTMs? It feels like it’s been a while since we had any.
I meant September.
Wait what happened to Enoch?
YES, YAASS, YEAH BABY!!!!!
Storf said that for the October ROTM’s, two of them will have exclusives paired with them!
Because we already got exclusives for the future October Classics ROTM (the Fania Records exclusives), it looks like we will get exclusives to go with the Essentials and Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM’s!
OMG, ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!?!?He put his entire collection up for sale.
mmmm that is a really good point! Hopefully that isn't the case, especially if the Essentials ROTM ends up being someone like PJ Harvey!or it could be that he is counting the already existing fania exclusives as one of the two
OMG, ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!?!?
I can't believe this is happening! I'm so shocked and surprised! I'm speechless!
So crazy! Hope his mental health is OK. As long as Enoch is happy, then it’s all good!I’m not. His reasons made perfect sense, unlike his two meltdowns that have led to him leaving the forum.
For the record I just wrote them a letter, it is as follows...
I just wanted to write a quick note about this Joel Ross Exclusive pressing from BlueNote that you guys put out this month. The music is great but this is a really disappointing pressing and package considering the price. This is a noisy record, every quiet passage is just covered in background noise and fuzz, and it's covered in pops and clicks likely from the super cheap paper sleeves that it was shipped with because they're basically sandpaper on any vinyl they touch. With the high quality pressings that VMP puts out every month in the classics subscription it's really disappointing to pay $33 USD for a Bluenote album and have it arrive with the cheapest gatefold and paper inner sleeves possible and to have the actual pressing of the album be so bad. This is worse than any of my Bluenote 75 pressings, and they are RENOWN for how bad they are but at least they only cost about 18 dollars each brand new.
I don't know that's there's specifically anything wrong with my copy that isn't the same on all the rest of them but if VMP is trying to make a name for itself when it comes to high quality audiophile quality releases these types of pressings shouldn't happen or at the very least they should be about 10 dollars cheaper. I don't usually say this when it comes to VMP but I feel like I got ripped off on this one.
-I'm sure they'll just offer me another which will sound exactly the same but I just think they need to hear this stuff sometimes...
Damn this is really gutting news. This has been the record I have been most anticipating from VMP far a long long while. I've mentioned a few times that I was able to see Joel Ross perform live in a tiny venue in London (me and @NathanRicaud tag-teamed his 2 day residency and covered a day each) and it was superb. Especially considering the vibraphone is a rare instrument to see used nowadays. Its a shame that such a great up-and-coming artist should have such a shitty pressing for their first release.RE: Joel Ross -
Mine sounds exactly the same as how y'all are describing it.
I even cleaned it again and my needle just to be sure.
This is a real shame, I hope the dudes ok and has some sort of local support (friends, family ect)?I’m not. His reasons made perfect sense, unlike his two meltdowns that have led to him leaving the forum.

Yeah it sucks. I mean it's possible we just got a bad batch. But a bad batch of 500? They're probably all like this unfortunately. The thing is this was apparently mastered by Kevin Gray so I don't know who plated and pressed it but whomever it was they did a horrible job. There's no info regarding that on the site, but I'm guessing maybe Memphis since VMP seems pretty enamoured with them these days...Damn this is really gutting news. According to the tracking I should be receiving my package today (Joel Ross, Comet is Coming, Knxwledge, Isley Brothers) and will spin Kingmaker first with crossed fingers.
well you're gonna get a signed copy if you do, so I guess there's something cool about itOkey, so I haven't found a decently priced Cauthen preorder in Europe, so that will be my first purchase on VMP's store in a long while.

I'll be cleaning my copy tomorrow and will report back as well. I'll be interested to see if similar reviews of the standard black pressing start popping up soon.Yeah it sucks.
