Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Just wanted to check-in and say that im super impressed with the Salt-N-Pepa release. I didn't know at first that it was 45rpm spilt over the 2 records, and it just sounds killer. I've never listened to the album in full before this either, and was super impressed by it. It has that brilliant 90's vibe and the whole production is superb! Love it.

This is cool to hear, thanks for sharing! I’ll be playing mine soon and it’s good to hear it does well by the material.

I'm also happy to hear SnP sounds great. 🙂👍 Haven't bought it yet as I do expect it to be in store for a longer while, but definitely want to.

the braggadocio, mafia, trap-southern infused bangers on Rick Ross’ Teflon Don
its interesting that you originally were like "oh hell no im not buying this" when you found out it was ross and now you are calling it amazing. interesting to see the change.. i think they wondered and specifically gucci mane because you didn't seem to be a fan of the bog standard sound started by those like TI, Jeezy, and Gucci, which artists like migos and future are clearly taking from

I like B.M.F. & MC Hammer a lot from Teflon Don! They’re the trap bangers I’m talking about! There are still 3 tracks on the album I dislike, and overall, the ROTM was around 7/10 for me. I liked it, but it’s not an amazing album. Teflon Don does contain ‘amazing‘ songs though!

No, I’m not of fan of Gucci Mane nor Jeezy. I like a bit of T.I. and songs like What You Know by T.I. are classic trap anthems. But yeah, I prefer trap music of the 2010’s much more the trap of the mid-late 2000’s!

personally i like jeezy more than gucci and T.I is in the middle but i understand th disagreement

ugh. Future is a swap. Hope something decent is offered, not that the site will work right anyway lol maybe I’ll finally get Brat.

VMP said that there will be a repress of the El-P RotM in case you don't have that yet and like to.
Apart from that there will be those new as swaptions according to VMP
Clams Casino: Moon Trip Radio
Hanni El Khatib: FLIGHT
Nick Hakim: WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD
Hamilton Leithauser: The Loves Of Your Life

There won't be any swap exclusives this month. Just available RotMs and store exclusives they have in their warehouse.

Nick Hakim: WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD
This is an excellent Swaption! It really is an indulgent, hazy, trippy, nostalgic, rich yet Lo-fi, summery kind of album! I highly recommend everyone grabbing it if you’re thinking about getting it or not! You will not be disappointed at all! The compositions are also really attentive, with the layering and melodies being really strong! 💎

I actually like Honest and will most likely pick it up making it the only the 2nd R&HH I've picked up in the last 12 months besides El-P after trying to focus on just autopiloting a yearly classics subscription. It's a strange inflection point between Pluto, whose influence I think people underestimate, and DS2, what most would consider peak Future. But I liked Future a lot more when he seemed to be more interested in building songs out of a hook.

@Jmcg85 Just listened to Honest and verdict didn't change too much. Just isn't something that clicks with me. Thought I was going to be picking crow feather from my teeth during the first track though as that beat is straight 🔥 but aside from a couple of pips would be lying if I said it was an easy listen. That said, glad I did it as would have kicked my shins were I to find it great after it's too late to grab. I'll still check out DS2 as well though, as I know that that is seen by many as the one to go for.

I'm happy you tried it with an open mind. Its just not for you and thats cool. I was f*cking heavy with the album when it dropped for a long time so it might hold some nostalgic and familiarity value for me personally. Perhaps I hadnt heard it back then and tried it now for the first time i might not feel the same but guess ill never know lol
