If time is tight, do the Soho bunch: Sounds of the Universe (new and used), Reckless (used) Sister Ray (new and used), If Music (new and really expensive rare used, Jazz, Blues, 'World' specialist) and Phonica (new, electronic/dance specialist).

Others worth exploring but farther afield: Rough Trade East, Flashback Islington, Honest Jon's and Music & Video Exchange, both Notting Hill.

Any specialists styles, hit me up and I'll look into it for you.

Excellent, appreciate it! I will keep these in mind as the lady and I formulate our plan for the week. Thanks, dude!

I’m usually passing through on work business when in London so usually just hit Reckless and Sister Ray on Berwick St. Phonica and Sounds of the Universe are also nearby and worth a visit. Rough Trade East too, but that’s a wee bit further away.

Not sure if it’s UK wide or not but HMV in Belfast has a mini-sale on (a few sale bins both upstairs and down). Had to show some rare self-restraint and put some stuff back too but I picked up:

John Coltrane - A Love Supreme (coloured exclusive) £9.99 (was £19.99)
James Blake - Assume Form £9.99 (was £27.99)
Boogie - Everything’s for Sale £7.99 (was £19.99)
J. Cole - KOD - £12.99 (was £20.99)
Janet Jackson - The Velvet Rope £12.99 (was £29.99)
50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (Iron Man cover, red LPs) £19.99 (was £41.99)

Might be worth checking out your nearest one!

paging @Murfocakes ! you always told me about how youd love to have that 50 cent record

Damn right. I turn 40 in January so I’ll soundtrack that with In Da Club

Or maybe not. I’ve just looked up the lyrics and I don’t want to do any of those things.

Go, go, go, go go, go, go, shawty
(I’m 6 foot 1 Fiddy, who you calling short?)
It's your birthday
We gon' party like it's yo birthday
(With a bunch of kids wrecking my house as I agitatedly try to prevent them from pulling records off the shelf in the front room)
We gon' sip Bacardi like it's your birthday
(Whiskey/Guinness are my tipple)
And you know we don't give a fuck
It's not your birthday!
(Actually I agree Fiddy, I wish it wasn’t)

You can find me in the club, bottle full of bub
(Nowhere near a club, bloody hateful. Best thing about getting older is not having to go to clubs. Champagne is in our house but sits in the cupboard and is passed to others when they have something to celebrate)
Look mami I got the X if you into taking drugs
(Behave yourself Fiddy. Maybe some indigestion tablets)
I'm into having sex, I ain't into making love
(Lucky him. I’ll be having neither. I’m married with 3 children.)
So come give me a hug if you into to getting rubbed
(Jesus. This hasn’t aged well)

Thats a fantastic discount as well, gets the tickets down to £20!! I was actually going to buy tickets for this when they first announced them, I even had them ready to fill out my details but then I realised its the day before my girlfriends birthday and we have an early start the next day.

Boring question time.

Does anyone have their records insured? I realised the other day that (other than my flat and a few other bits) my record collection as a whole is one of my largest financial assets. If the worst was to happen and they were gone I would only be covered for a fraction under my house insurance.

I spoke to my home insurer and they said they are covered without needing to be specifically mentioned on the policy so long as you have no individual record valued over €1000. Just put up your overall contents value covered by the amount you value your collection at. I’m aware that not every insurer is the same though so just get onto the people you have your contents insured with!

Cool, thanks @Joe Mac I will check it out.

I’d just add make sure your collection is catalogued somewhere and take some photos too
I have a discogs account with everything in there, and I have the a handful of the expensive ones up on instagram as well (photos of the front, back, and each side of the record) so I have it reasonably well catalogued. I might start adding the price I paid into the notes of Discogs from now on as well, just to be on the safe side.

I have a boring question for you fine folk today. Well, more of a massive annoyance than anything.

I recently bought an item on ebay from America, using their global shipping program. The seller successfully delivered it to the USA ebay depot, and ebay then shipped it over here where Hermes took over delivery. The item was supposedly delivered and signed for on Friday, but I never received it. I checked with the concierge and no Hermes delivery was attempted, he also checked the CCTV and no one made a delivery attempt. I checked with all my neighbours in our buildings group chat, and also went next door to check their apartment blocks post room - to no avail.

After numerous back and forth emails with Ebay they gave me a police report form which needed to be filled out, so I reluctantly took it to my local police station and they said that they would never give a case reference for such instances. They gave me a stamped and signed letter saying this, which I sent to ebay.

Ebay is now telling me that in order to refund me they HAVE to have a non-delivery form from Hermes, and here lies my issue. Hermes are IMPOSSIBLE to contact. I have tried their online chat (which is automatic and loops back to the 'how can we help' when you click the assistance button), their online email form will not send as it is stating the parcel number (which has to be included) claims it is delivered, and their phone number is automatic and cuts off once the status of the package has been given.

Im pulling my hair out over this, it is quite a costly record once shipping and expected customs was added (just under £40) but more to the point im just fuming that it is so difficult to obtain the refund at this point.

Has anyone had any similar problems?

Hey! Any of you bought anything off the hmv webstore recently?

I was trying to put an order through earlier this week and the payment kept failing. Any insight?
