Described as ‘London’s best kept secret’ and ‘fiercely passionate’ by Max Reinhardt, BBC Radio 3 Late Junction, string duo Fran & Flora is one of the most innovative emerging ensembles in the UK. Their outstanding musicianship combined with compelling arrangements have led to their selection as BBC Music Introducing Artists 2018 and rave reviews.

Violinist Flora Curzon and folk/experimental cellist Francesca Ter-Berg captivate their audiences with exquisite, soulful tunes from across Eastern Europe which they have learnt from many great masters of the Klezmer and Roma traditions. Delicately navigating the question of authenticity the duo have spent years developing a sound which is simultaneously reverent to the traditions they have been studying and deeply personal.

Fran & Flora embarked on this musical journey together following many years collaborating with groundbreaking artists including Talvin Singh (Mercury Prize Winner), Sam Lee & Friends (BBC Folk Award winner), Hejira, Dunajska Kapelye, the London Klezmer Quartet, Cosmo Sheldrake and Frank London(Klezmatics, US).

Any UK VMP members not planning on getting the upcoming Art Blakey classics release, I'd be forever grateful if you'd add it to your order and send it on to me. I'd pay you your standard monthly rate ($33) rather than the $23 add on price plus shipping of course. Let me know if anyone can assist, I'm desperately trying to resist rejoining.
Cheers,
Mick

This will be my last month I think, and I have the Classics add on. Not really my jam, so I can’t think of a better send off than getting it for you! Unless there are 2 things I really want to swap for I think you’ll be good.

And don’t be daft on the cost, just pay me the GBP amount I pay plus postage.

Fantastic, cheers mate, no worries if you find stuff you want yourself but brilliant if not.

Used that to finally get the recent Jane Weaver ‘Loops...’ 2LP. Didn’t check if the code could be used more than once.

For those of you in London there’s a Numero Group pop-up store this week - 25-29th I think.

Just saw this on IG, thought it might interest some of you guys:

Alright UK Groovers, I'll be visiting London in late November. I won't have a ton of time for crate digging, but if there was a top 5 record shops to check out in London what would they be?

If time is tight, do the Soho bunch: Sounds of the Universe (new and used), Reckless (used) Sister Ray (new and used), If Music (new and really expensive rare used, Jazz, Blues, 'World' specialist) and Phonica (new, electronic/dance specialist).

Others worth exploring but farther afield: Rough Trade East, Flashback Islington, Honest Jon's and Music & Video Exchange, both Notting Hill.

Any specialists styles, hit me up and I'll look into it for you.
