The Waxhole: Speakeasy & Whisk(e)y Lounge

I went to a new (to me) distillery in Sonoma County (wine country north of San Francisco) called Alley 6 and grabbed these two bottles:

We really enjoyed tasting through their offerings (five in the tasting room) plus the distiller let us taste some if his private stash of barrel proof rye.

I don’t know what this means, but okay!

It’s the historic Irish moonshine spirit made from potatoes in bathtubs. It is like drinking lighter fluid. It was legalised so distilleries could distill it about 10 years ago. Even that is usually high 80%s ABV. I had one blackout night on the illegal stuff about 18 years ago, never again...
