My wife and I really liked it. I think it is Simon’s best work and the music is awesome. It moves at its own pace and feels very novelistic. We re-watched it a couple of years ago. I definitely recommend not binge watching it. We watched an episode every 3-4 days.

It does take a while to find its footing, particularly regarding its characters, which sometimes feel a bit too much like winky-winky self-aware 60s archetypes, but the details of the alternate history are a lot of fun and I appreciate that they're at least trying to do their homework regarding the technical aspects, even if some liberties are taken. There was some stuff in the last three episodes that had me white-knuckling.

Episodes 3 & 4 of Season 2 were directed by Andrew Stanton and they're some of the strongest hours of TV i've seen in some time. Season 2 is the best case scenario for this show.

Awesome.

I thought it was weird they chose Seth Gordon to direct the two premiere episodes of S1. He's very mediocre.

Does it stay pretty solid through its 4 season run?
 
I binged Schitt's Creek over last week. It had some really great moments and a lot of laughs. I absolutely fell in love with Stevie from her first moments on screen and that love for her character only grew as the show went on. Moira and Ronald were unbearable and I found myself skipping past a lot parts with them in it.

I've never been a fan of cringe humour, the British Office being almost too much for me, with Ricky Gervais's other vehicles being outright unwatchable. So pretty much any scene with Chris Elliott in it was very difficult to get through. He had one redeeming moment at the end when they pitched their idea and that was it. Moira I don't think learned anything from her time there, every time it seemed like she did she'd go right back to being a terrible self-centered person. David grew a little, but I didn't really get why anyone liked him, especially Patrick. Johnny grew a lot and felt like he really started making an effort near the end there. Alexis had probably the best arch, it was hilarious how much insane life experience she had, but had never let any of it develop her character. It wasn't until she was literally living the most boring mundane existence that she grew and started to make something of herself.

I feel like its going to take me a while to get through it though. With the episodes being a touch over an hour plus the subject matter and different characters, I feel like its one of those shows you really need to be ready to pay close attention to. That's not meant as a criticism or anything, just an observation. I'm looking forward to watching the rest and your comment about the end of season 1 has me excited!

I started watching this this week! I was skeptical of the longer episode run time but it doesn’t feel too bloated. I like how each one ends without a cliffhanger, it’s a full story from start to finish. Characters are interesting, I don’t hate anyone surprisingly so far. I’m on episode 7 of the first season. I’ve heard the second season gets even better.

I know nothing about Line of Duty, but I did just get a VPN recently after being skeptical for years. Best decision. I can watch all the UK shows I want cause all their various channels have free streaming services. It’s completely worth it.

I have not yet watched community. I should. So many of you love it.

Some of the best TV i've seen recently: I May Destroy You. Wow. That was some insanely talented story telling/writing. And shame on every award committee that overlooked it.

I was late to the party on Community, but saw so much love on the forum for it, I gave it a run. It gets so good for a nice stretch. Very creative for sure, and there are moments that remind me of Parks and Rec, as far as how the characters have each others' backs at the end of the day. That's why I thought of you while watching it.

Also - Ted Lasso is awesome. A feel good show like Parks and Rec and Schitt's Creek.

Gomorrah is not at all feel good. It's about the crime families in Naples. I saw a description that said something like the crime families in Sicily have a code - family first. The crime families in Naples have no code, or if they do, it is a code of chaos. Lol. And that kind of perfectly describes the show.

I LOVE Ted Lasso. I had resisted Schitts Creek for years (tried it once and it didn’t grab me) but decided to give it another go and am really enjoying it (am halfway through S4)
Just started Breeders and while not totally all in I like the actors enough to keep it going.
And Call My Agent! is such a delight. I finished the entire series over a 2-3 week period and am sad it’s over.

Like PnR, I don't think season 1 of Schitts Creek is that good. I really had to slog through about 6 episodes before I started enjoying it. I could see the potential and I stuck with it because so many people love that show. But if i was watching alone in a vacuum, tbh, i probably would not have ever gotten past the first few episodes. I'm so glad I did. I've watched it 3x through now. Since July. :)

Call My Agent does look fun! I'll check it out. I need these feel good shows to balance out my odd fascination with really dark crime shows.
