There are a couple of things really getting my goat about this years Top Chef.

First, it is subtitled Destination Canada, and yet after 8 episodes they have not fucking left Toronto. Driving 2 hours down the QEW to Niagara does not really cut it.

Also the Chefs Table kitchen is adorned for indigenous art and yet have not once talked First Nations foodways and land stewardship. Also I am not an expert on Indigenous art, but what they have on the walls appears to be done in the West Coast style, 4000+ kilometres from the Toronto studio.

I bet they end up with the finale in like Montreal or Vancouver or something but yeah, I assumed they’d have moved around a bit more.

If you want a bit of a switch up on a reality show, this next season of Alone which premieres June 12 is set in South Africa this season. Which will be a nice change up. They’ve done Mongolia and Patagonia I. The past but this will be the first legit warm weather season and I am curious how that’ll work out.
