STAR WARS! STAR WARS! STAR WARS

Yes, the final episode of the Mandelorian was by far the best episode of the season. I've decided the only way I can watch this show without getting annoyed is to basically admit it's ALMOST a parody of spaghetti westerns complete with the corny writing, bad acting and cheesy plotlines where nothing really happens. If I go into it expecting these things then it's tolerable. I still wish we could get the gritty "Rogue One" styled Star Wars show that I've been hoping for. Maybe the Cassian Andor show will fill that niche.

The Mandalorian is like a Star Wars Xena Warrior princess campy adventure drama action fun show with more money than any of those shows EVER had and I like watching it. Bring on season 2.

Carl Weathers pounding shots of blue space booze goo under DURESS made me laugh more than anything has in a while and was a boon to these rough times

I’m long on record with my hatred of the trash that is TLJ, and while I am certain that ROS will retcon the shit out of it, I have no faith at all that it will be done well. I’m just not seeing how they can fix it in a manner that ends up with even a decent film, let alone a good one.

Overall, my feelings about the main SW story is one of sadness. So much rich material, legacy and potential just mishandled and shit on by the folks entrusted with it.
I just got out of ROS with my daughter. I was right about the retconning, and the subtle, and not so subtle jabs at RJ that made me smile. I was pleasantly surprised at how good of a movie they were able to make. It’s definitely flawed, and overstuffed but overall I enjoyed it. It seemed like JJ crammed the second part of his trilogy into the first half of this movie while he was busy undoing the damage that RJ did in the last go around.

I’ve got to ruminate on it more and I’ll have more thoughts, but overall, I liked it.

Finally watched the last jedi and it was really good, and actually poignant, and incredibly reverent to the original trilogy while also being open to move things forward. So, so dumb that a vocal "fan" base harassed a great group of creatives about it and undid a lot of the direction it was taking things. Not super stoked to see the third one anytime soon if it backtracks some of my favorite Star Wars choices / moments ever.

I remember being a nerd in grade school / high school and feeling camaraderie with my fellow dorks and losers, Freaks and Geeks style. Sucks that nerds are also overwhelmingly bullies and racists these days! Woof.

Let's talk Despecialized Editions. Is it still the best version to watch and what's the best way to download or get copies for someone who is a dummy with Torrent type stuff
I only have Star Wars despecialised. I did torrent both versions I have, but I can’t remember where I got them. Would be interested in Empire and Return as well.

It's not too difficult. You just need a torrent client program like uTorrent and an ISP that doesn't get angry that you're downloading multiple GB files.

Yes they are still the best. I got them from the OG sites and burned them on DVDs. I’m sure you can torrent them on the usual places.
