Re: MOV's Mountain - Climbing release, here's the response I received:

Thanks for your mail.
We received and used high res audio files (96 KHZ / 24 BIT) of the original masters.

With kind regards,
Mark Klinkhamer
Nice that they’re still responsive to messages (though I don’t know why they don’t just put it in the pressing notes - it’s more valuable than indicating if it comes with an insert).

Sounds like we've been to some of the same shows :). I was at Cincy 2014, and Night 3 and Night 4 of the Spectrum run. I agree on Night 3. That show was insanely good, and as good as Halloween was, the night before was better. The 2010 shows I went to were pretty good too. After those, I haven't been to as many. Wrigley 2013, Pitt 2013, and Cincy 2014.... Wrigley could have been magical if they would have started on time and played the whole setlist, regardless of the rain delay.... Pitt and Cincy were too similar for me, but I found Pitt to be better.

I've gotten to the point that if they are not playing in my home state, I won't go. They just aren't the same band that I fell in love with. They've become more interested in cashing in, and that's fine I guess, I just won't contribute to it when I don't feel like the product is anywhere close to as good as I have seen it before.

Wow, saying it out loud makes me sad about it.
We were at Wrigley 2013 & Pitt, too! I nearly passed out from the heat at Wrigley during the weather delay, husband asked a guy standing next to us while we were sheltering to please keep an eye on me while he went to find me water, and it turned out the guy lives 20 minutes from us! Funny how things like that happen.

What should have been a 5 1/2 hour drive to Pitt turned into an 8 hour one thanks to torrential rain. That was the first time I ever bought a poster - the wait took maybe 35 minutes. Crazy how that poster goes for such big bucks now.

We still will travel for them, went to Leeds in 2014, did a few Florida shows and Hampton in 2016, have done all of the Fenway shows, made it to the Seattle home shows in 2018 which was a great experience, and most recently did Hamilton and Toronto last Sept, but you are correct; it's not like it used to be. The money grabs are embarrassing, yet I am a vinyl collector so I often feel I have to buy whatever it is they are hawking, but have definitely slowed down recently. The only reason I opted for the Yield VMP reissue is because it's the only studio album of theirs of which I don't have an OG pressing. I do have the reissue that came in the box set, but that's it.

If the d-bag that runs Newport Folk Festival had his way, these live releases would all be 10 takes of Goodnight, Irene.

my partner at the time did pass out, right in the middle of release. thankfully the crowd around us was aware and got the attention of security/medical while i was attending to her, and within a couple minutes we were escorted to the first aid room, which i believe was the player's lounge/family area in or near the cubs clubhouse- it definitely wasn't a normal first aid room, there was sofas/chairs and a lot of kid related activity stuff in there. this turned out to be fortuitous as we got to wait out pretty much the entire delay in there, which was air conditioned and had plenty of water and some snacks, watching the weather news reports on the tvs while the storm raged on outside. they only had us leave after the storm had passed and we only had to wait maybe 10-15 minutes in the concourse before the field opened back up.

edit: not gonna lie, i think it's cool there were a few of us on here that were at this show. i was also at the halloween spectrum show. there aren't too many bands out there that members of a small but widespread internet community like this can say they were at the same shows that took place in different years and all across the country for.

If any pressings pop up for Gracie Abrams new album Good Riddance appear please @ me. Waiting for this to be pressed on vinyl. I expect it will be as her last two albums were.
That's weird, she's pretty popular to not have her label put up a vinyl preorder, even if there are backups at plants still. This reminds me, it's coming up on a year without a pressing of Ethel Cain's album, but I guess that makes more sense since she's on her own label.

She could do a qrates or some other crowd funding site where they set a certain goal and it won't get pressed unless that goal is met. I normally don't like waiting a year for a album to be available on vinyl but I understand why in this case. This would be a affordable solution to press the album on vinyl. I'd rather have a general retail release but if take this if this was the only way to get a vinyl release.

New Youth Lagoon album coming …
