October 2021 Vinyl Spin Challenge Thread: Let's Get Lexical, Lexical

21. Hierophant - (n.) a person, especially a priest in ancient Greece, who interprets sacred mysteries and esoteric principles
Had this weird deja vu moment I already posted this and used George Michaels Faith ( purely for Greek link) not gonna check back tho, so moving on….

24. Panjandrum - (n.) a person who has or claims to have a great deal of authority or influence

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing....

25. Autarky - (n.) self-sufficiency, independence

DIY, baby. DIY.

For nearly a decade, Death by Audio was a recording studio, an effect pedal workshop, a music venue, and a home to musicians and artists. Oliver Ackermann (A Place to Bury Strangers) found the warehouse in 2005 and along with fellow artists in Dirty on Purpose, he started hosting concerts to help pay to build out bedrooms and studios. By 2007 DBA was hosting bands almost every night. Over 1,800 shows later, DBA announced its impending eviction with an epic final month of programming. Start Your Own Fucking Show Space tracks the last days of DBA in November 2014, a sweaty, bittersweet homecoming for many artists who began their career there.

Great heart. Great music. Great record.

Tell us about it, Ty...

The last word from Oliver...

19. Sedulous - (adj.) showing dedication and diligence

Their dedication and diligence in making so many new albums can be commendable, but I got burned out by them. Too many albums and too many that only had 1 or 2 decent tracks with the rest filler.

I did like the direction they took with this one, though.

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard – Infest The Rats' Nest
Flightless – FLT-053, 2019

23. Internecine - (adj.) destructive to both sides of a conflict

I feel like for all involved in the conflict of "Life in the Fast Lane", it's certainly (Self) destructive for them.

There were lines on the mirror, lines on her face
She pretended not to notice she was caught up in the race
Out every evening until it was light
He was too tired to make it
She was too tired to fight about it
Life in the fast lane, surely make you lose your mind

24. Panjandrum - (n.) a person who has or claims to have a great deal of authority or influence

Bob does not hold back on his feelings about panjandrums on Ballad of a Thin Man.

You’ve been with the professors
And they’ve all liked your looks
With great lawyers you have
Discussed lepers and crooks
You’ve been through all of
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s books
You’re very well read
It’s well known

Because something is happening here
But you don’t know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Bob Dylan ~ Highway 61 Revisited

25. Autarky - (n.) self-sufficiency, independence

The selfish, they're all standing in line
Faithing and hoping to buy themselves time
Me, I figure as each breath goes by
I only own my mind

The North is to South what the clock is to time
There's east and there's west and there's everywhere life
I know I was born and I know that I'll die
The in between is mine
I am mine

Pearl Jam ~ Riot Act

26. Laconic - (adj.) using very few words.

Using @Yer Ol' Uncle D 's Crapulent album for todays prompt. One of the great things about Neil is that he's able to convey so much with just a few words. This song is a perfect example. Clocking in at over 9 minutes, it's a simple refrain of 7 repeated words that give a glimpse into the depth of anguish he feels over something missing from his life. You can feel this one to the core.

Got mashed potatoes
Got mashed potatoes
Got mashed potatoes
Ain't got no T-Bone
Ain't got no T-Bone

(repeat for 9 minutes)
