Checked out my two most anticipated albums on my drive in to class for work this morning (it's a 1.5 hr drive one way
).
Janelle Monáe's album was super SPICY and sexy
, and it would make a great record to put on in the background of like a summertime party, or to spice things up
But compared to her other 3 albums, this one is definitely her weakest overall, but surely her most fun and bold. Probably not AOTY material, but maybe an HM.
Squid's latest was a sure avoidance of the sophomore slump. Their 2021 debut was my #7 thay year and top debut album of that year, so it had some BIG shoes to fill. With a first listen, I give it high marks! But I'm going to have to see if this one holds up for the rest of the year.
