New Music Friday!

Evidence - Unlearning Vol. 1

There was some other really good stuff out this week for sure but this one reigns supreme by quite a large margin for me. One of the most consistent hip hop artists ever imo. Dropped nothing but pure 🔥 for close to 30 years straight now.

Radar List for 7.2.21

Emma-Jean Thackray - Yellow
Laura Mvula - Pink Noise
Izzy Johnson - earth tones
Molly Lewis - The Forgotten Edge
Bobby Gillespie & Jehnny Beth - Utopian Ashes
Declaime & Madlib - In The Beginning, Vol. 1
Year of No Light - Consolamentum
Desperate Journalist - Maximum Sorrow!
Snapped Ankles - Forest of Your Problems

Here's my selection for Friday,July 2nd. Not many releases this week, I think it's the lowest number of interesting releases since the first 2 weeks of January. Maybe it's because of the July 4th weekend. If Lana Del Ray is still to release "Blue Banisters" that could be out on Independence Day. Let's see. Happy listening everybody :) 🎧

Laura Mvula (Pink Noise) (Post Disco Electro/ Neo Soul)

Emma- Jean Thackray (Yellow) (Fusion Jazz / Funk)

Jax Jones (Deep Joy EP) (EDM/ DJ)

Year of No Light (Consolamentum) (Post Metal)

Looking for to Molly Lewis the most lmao, which is amazing cause it’s literally cinematic whistling music 🔥

I love how the morning after I put Emma-Jean Thackray at the top of my weekly radar list, VMP emails and says "About that..." 🤣

And no, I'm not even a little bit surprised by the delay.

This new Snapped Ankles is my favourite thing I've listened to so far this week, and I've cleared my radar list now.
I'd never heard of them before doing my weekly digging into forthcoming releases, the snippets I previewed were interesting enough to put them on my list and now I'm glad I did. Don't know that it'll make my year-end list by any means, but I've enjoyed it more than anything else yet today.

The new Declaime & Madlib album is pretty solid so far - pretty straightforward boom bap styles. Declaime has never been my favourite emcee, but he's also never been my least favourite.

As last week didn't have that many releases, I've decided to already take a look what's coming up on Friday July 9th. Also not that many releases. Here's my selection. Happy listening everybody :) 🎧
