The first thing I'm listening to today is the new Lake Street Dive, 'Obviously'! Really excited for this one, had the vinyl show up earlier in the week but have been so busy I haven't gotten a chance to listen.

Yeah I came in here to pump up the new Lake Street Dive release. Hypotheticals is a very strong lead single and they're just a rock solid group. Excited to give Valerie June a spin and there's some other interesting items out there too.

I’m reserving judgement until one of the two copies I ordered shows up (accidental - I see a trip to the pif thread in my future). Album seems ballad heavy given the singles and I’m not big on their ballads. Hoping I like it better than Free Yourself Up. Although I do remember Side Pony taking some time for me to warm up to as well.

Admittedly I was never able to get into Arab Strap for whatever reason...fast FWD to 2021 and wow this new album slaps!

I wasn't familiar with Arab Strap going in, but I really enjoyed this album.

If you like some soul with jazz influences I can recommend "Memories of love" by Myles Sanko. The Ghana-born UK singer delivers some warmth and great instrumentation that partly feels like a live gig with its jazz influences.
