Okay, I checked the link of additional holidays and noticed that today is also:
World Narcissistic Abuse Awareness Day
So it seemed a good day to spin this one
Ryan Adams - Gold
l don't stream his music anymore, and I wouldn't "dare" spin this around most others, but I've owned this record for years, and this album is one of those I played so much in its first years that the songs became a part of me. And I've put up with too much of the type of shit Mr. Adams inflicted on women in my own experiences with the music and poetry worlds to give up the music that got me through it.

Sun Ra & His Astro Infinity Arkestra - Atlantis
Starting things off by pretty straightforwardly by connecting reefs to Atlantis.
Inspired by @cul8er having the personal side challenge with N&G AotMs last month, and without having tried to plot the whole thing out in advance, I'm going to try and answer every challenge this month with a Sun Ra related spin. This ought to be fun. Let's get weird!

So the good lady wife , Mrs N, has accepted my constant record buying , arranging , rearranging, spending and constant factoids with good grace over the last 20 years - but she has two issues with music - Bjork and harmonicas - both struggle to survive joint listening experiences - I’m kinda happy to let bjork go (she slightly annoys me too now) BUT harmonicas rule
So here’s some “chicken man” as he is dubbed by the good lady as she misheard a song once and he is now forever the fella sing about chickens whilst blowing the dreaded harmonica...

This song is the only appropriate choice for today. Thankfully the DBT put it on multiple albums. Patterson Hood wrote it about Gregory Dean Smalley who while dying of AIDS, put everything he had left into playing shows.

I know I just spun this last month for the cooking day challenge but it contains a song literally called “Ice Cream” so it seems like the right choice. Plus OB4CL is great record, ya never need an excuse to spin this classic.

My wife puts up with my post rock (and can enjoy the more Explosions-esque style)... but an hour and a half of Godspeed drones and crescendos is pushing it!
