Incoming! The New Equipment Thread

I think it should be illegal to post "I did a thing" in this thread without saying what that thing is.
I ordered and paid for a new lowboy to finally replace my Salamander. After two false starts that ultimately got nixed by either delays or my wife changing her opinion (totally valid and ok of her to do so, especially as this is in the living room) we are going with a Tactile Audio Cervantes. We are doing the same walnut/white with walnut shelves as in the picture, but are customizing the depth and shelf spacing to meet our needs.

I’m really excited as this is also prompting me to finally decide on the digital side if I want Aurender A series or to keep my LUMIN and add the LTA Aero DAC. Then, for now at least, the 2-ch is settled and I can spend my kids college fund on other stuff. (Let’s be honest, at least one of them is going to a JC and dropping out, right?).

I dig the design, the fact that they are local and small, and that they’ll deliver it straight to my house themselves. Eat me UPS!

I’m not getting rid of the Salamander, but instead moving it and repurposing it to auxiliary bar duties (store whisky and glasses for example 😉 ). The Salamander is still a solid piece of furniture and built like a tank, even after 20ish years and two kids.

I'm super curious about how they build this to make it weight safe if you happen to know. I'm assuming they are connecting to the white part with joints in the wood to add to the strength? Or having an extra leg on the white part would make sense to me. I barely know the first thing about building furniture, but one day I'd like to try to build my own so I'm always trying to think through what it would take and it's far more than I could do now. Maybe in retirement. But damn there are some nice looking pieces out there and this is certainly one of them.

I haven’t a clue, but they invited me to come up and tour their shop while it’s being built. I’ll try to remember and let you know. The ETA is 12 weeks.
