Incoming! The New Equipment Thread

Incoming as it’s coming to market, not me personally. Pass Labs and Luxman both showed equipment at AXPONA with a brushed black finish.

I’m probably in the minority, but I think their traditional silver/brushed aluminum gave them a more polished and classy look. These are too much like more home theater me-too black shoeboxes.
Did you look at the sales details of the black Luxman products, because it's very much awesome unobtanium. You can't buy one piece. It has to be full set, and only 50 sets coming to the US.
509z integrated, PD-151 turntable, Nt-07 streamer, D-07x SACD/DAC. All for a cool $37.5K. Which honestly compared to other things in this thread, pretty "reasonable." Because trade shows make Luxman look like a value brand now.

Well, here is something different. It’s about the new Soulution 787 mega-bucks table. It takes a linear tracker arm and flips the concept on its head. Instead of the arm moving to track the record, the arm is stationary and the whole platter moves.

Has anyone tried this before? It seems extremely complicated.
A Soulution looking to fix a problem that's not there.
This was my exact thought. Fixing a problem that wasn't there. And could you imagine watching this mess try to track an off center pressing? You're whole rack might start moving. Not to mention the pricing... 67,500 Swiss Francs. On today's exchange rate (before tariffs, taxes, etc) that's $80K! For 80K I'm sure it'll work. But that's a LOT of turntable. It's literally 2 VPI Avenger direct drives. Can't add arms. Probably can't change arms. You would need to REALLY love it.

Excellent wordplay @Jbraswell, I did laugh at that.

If anyone can do it it’s Soulution.
In the June Stereophile, editor Jim Austin has a column noting that audio manufacturers are not making it selling mid-level high end gear and that $250k+ amps, turntables, speakers, etc. are what will keep audiophilia alive. Not enough customers at our middle class level and a whole lot of ultra wealthy people that spend indiscriminately. One example of that given was a Swiss watch manufacturer whose ad copy accidentally added a zero to a new model price and it sold out instantly. 🥺
I will say, Soulution amps are fantastic. I was upset when I saw the pricing. I was hoping for less based on the casework, but they look and sound excellent. This TT, not sold on it.

And the mid-market dying, 100%. I've talked to a few dealers about it. Most dealers would rather sell one $40k speaker vs five $10k speakers. The money they make ends up being about the same, but it's less effort. The sale is one part of effort. But shipping, importing, order processing, servicing, etc... it just doesn't make sense for the dealers. I think for mid-market will continue to see the rise of manufacturer's going direct. Which I hate, but it's just the way of the world.

the problem is that the latter market is not a sustainable one. it’s a short-sighted strategy.
