Incoming! The New Equipment Thread

Well, here is something different. It’s about the new Soulution 787 mega-bucks table. It takes a linear tracker arm and flips the concept on its head. Instead of the arm moving to track the record, the arm is stationary and the whole platter moves.

Has anyone tried this before? It seems extremely complicated.
Seems like it would be a way to increase wow and flutter and therefore noise. I don’t like it.

A Soulution looking to fix a problem that's not there.

Elon musk is gonna build a turntable that just shifts the world beneath the record.

If anyone can do it it’s Soulution.
In the June Stereophile, editor Jim Austin has a column noting that audio manufacturers are not making it selling mid-level high end gear and that $250k+ amps, turntables, speakers, etc. are what will keep audiophilia alive. Not enough customers at our middle class level and a whole lot of ultra wealthy people that spend indiscriminately. One example of that given was a Swiss watch manufacturer whose ad copy accidentally added a zero to a new model price and it sold out instantly. 🥺

Andrew Robinson mentioned something similar on his YouTube channel. I don’t disagree, but am hoping it doesn’t all go to crap or “Oligarch Audio.”
