Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

No I wouldn't say that, it used to be the case that some store drops would be immediately in stock, that's pretty much never the case now and I would suspect it's linked to the drain on capital that the plant has been... their business model is now entirely funded by pre-orders and subscriptions...

Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

This is the problem they now have, the business is entirely dependent on its perceived creditworthiness since it moved to a largely pre-order model (which I suspect was linked to sinking all its cash into the new plant). We essentially provide them with interest-free loans to press our...

Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Not sure if this has been suggested already but anyone fancy 'buddying up' on the referral credits scheme in a "you click mine, I'll click yours" kind of way? I'm an international member so it potentially works out even sweeter for my buddy...

    Vinyl Me Please Anthology

If you look at Egon's Instagram he was in Memphis a couple of years back meeting with artists and posted up a bunch of pictures of who he met, what tapes he got access to etc... so I'd imagine there's some pretty big clues in there... just google 'Egon Memphis'...

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

If anything that article just confirms it IMO... we already know it's coming to essentials, it is essential (far more so than BTH), she debuted in 1993 and August is the 25th anniversary of the release year/month... surely the clear favourite?

    Surely August is Lauryn Hill???

Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Given the access they seem to have to the Wild Pitch catalogue, could UMC's 'Fruits of Nature' be an option... it would be a bit unusual to have back-to-back releases from the same label (especially given the recent Gang Starr release too) but it's the one Wild Pitch LP more than any other...

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I thought it was widely acknowledged that the next '98 Essentials was likely to be Lauryn, isn't that confirmed as being imminent?

The Coup are from Oakland though... although VMP have been known to overlook such minor details...

Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

It's a pretty uninspired pick unless they do something like add the Japan only tacks The CD in the catalogue number suggests it's double vinyl so hopefully including at least the bonus tracks from the Japanese release...

Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Not sure if it's been mentioned already but I'm assuming the RHH release of Fear of A Black Planet almost certainly means there's an Essentials release of Nation of Millions in the pipeline... as a curator, if you have access to the PE catalogue you'd never choose Black Planet over Nation of...

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

If it's helpful to know (or maybe rubbing salt into the wound?) there are clean copies of the Wu out there, I have a clean one and a noisy one and the difference between the two is stark... the noisy one is far worse than Outkast IMO, more like Mars Volta.

Not strictly true, apparently the cut-off for replacements/refunds is 12 months, but to all intents and purposes that is basically unlimited yes...

Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Yeah J-Live would be a great shout… widely regarded as one of the most under appreciated hip-hop albums of all time… I suspect it might be a little too ‘underground’ for VMP though…

Hamilton, Ontario eh... I went to school there at McMaster some 20 odd years ago now... hosted a college radio show with Koushik (who went on to sign with Stones Throw) and a few other friends... good times...

Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Nathan, whilst I don't disagree with you that it's likely to be ATLiens and I'm also hoping for DU or Brand Nubian for the 1990 LP, you are massively overlooking the fact that BDP's Edutainment fits the 1990 clue perfectly if you are looking at it being the 4th or 5th album of a group's...

Given the MPS connection this might be of interest to some people on here (although I suspect the fact it's 45s will put most off)... MPS/SABA Complete 45 Series
