I feel like creators approach Star Wars wrong. It’s not that hard to make a good Star Wars movie. The formula is (1) take plot of samurai movie (2) write dialogue like a western (3) sprinkle in WWII dogfights.
Alrighty, I re-upped my VMP sub, but I actually WANT the 3 records I “purchased” in my collection (Gorillaz, Queens of the Stone Age, and Aretha). I’m not doing the completionist thing as that really made me unhappy.
CRJ released a “Don’t Speak” cover. I think I really like it, but it’s hard for me to tell because I’m REALLY familiar with the original and this is definitely different
I think my 1969 essentials shopping list is gonna be: (1) Abbey Road and (2) Hot Buttered Soul. I already bought (3) Let It Bleed and (4) Townes Van Zandt.
(1) a sampling of the most acclaimed artists;
(2) selections from a charming group of misfits and music-lovers that makes me question how albums come to be acclaimed;
(3) some favorites; and
(4) too much random stuff from FOMO, subscription services based upon their own business interests, or the hype of the new flavor of the week.
I'm trying to cut out more of 4...all of it if I can help it.
Well, I went ahead and bought Let It Bleed. From Amoeba. For $26 bucks. I now have 2 records from my ‘69 list! ... still have my full ‘68 list to go though
I don't know why VMP keeps trying to create some new "exclusive" community for Anthology. The forum is way more fun. Mather with his endless warps, Joe Mac rolling his eyes so hard I can feel it across the Atlantic, Teeeee being awesome, NathanRicaud being super positive, and many many others on here make a far better vinyl-collecting experience than some sterile corporate-created...thingy.
I feel my collection is a little light on the soul. I think I focused too much on rock in the 60s. Gonna have to backtrack and pick up Smokey, Otis, and Cooke.
