RIP Wayne Kramer. He was a guest at an Alejandro Escovedo show in Austin a few years ago, and it was so cool seeing him play. He was having a blast.

Loved every second of that ‘We Are The World’ documentary on Netflix.
So, as a super early birthday present to myself, I’ll be seeing Waxahatchee and slowdive on back to back nights at the same venue in May.

I still love everything about Johnette Napolitano‘s voice. The tone, the attitude, the strength…I just think it’s one of the best rock voices ever.

Finally watched Todd Haynes’ Velvet Underground documentary Friday night. The running time is 2 hours, but I wish it was at least 4 hours. Still so much story and history surrounding VU that I would love to hear about. Great music doc for sure.
This is maybe the quietest Christmas ever since everyone is just messing around with their respective phones.
I consider myself a pretty big Old 97s fan, but for the life of me, I don’t understand who gave the go ahead to include a track called ‘Hobo Christmas Song’ on their holiday album.

Catching the Austin stop on Girl In A Coma’s brief farewell swing through Texas. Feel certain that they will play again together down the road, but it’s a rare chance to catch them live, and the weather is great for an outdoor show in December.

In hindsight, perhaps checking those boxes at checkout to add myself to the mailing lists for all of the various bands and labels I made Bandcamp purchases from was a bad idea.
Having a really hard time figuring out where to slot PJ Harvey’s album in my year end list. I think I respect the album more than I actually enjoy listening to it. But it is sounding better now that the weather outside better suits its overall vibe.
The Jon Batiste documentary on Netflix is a nice reminder that we often have no idea what folks are dealing with behind the scenes in life. Sure, there is a lot of music in the film, but, as corny as it may sound, it’s really a snapshot of the real life struggles and triumphs beyond the music.
Been listening to quite a bit of solo Lou Reed recently, and I decided to create a playlist that serves as an alternate take on his much maligned debut solo record.
Real talk here…I love New Order, but this live set on the expanded Substance is a rough listen. They were never the most reliable live act, particularly back in the day, but is this really the best offering they could find to round out this collection?
There was a lot of buzz around Depeche Mode’s “Memento Mori” earlier this year. I thought it was good, but kind of dull. Not many of the songs stuck with me. However, I’m enjoying OMD’s “Bauhaus Staircase” a lot. I haven’t heard much about it press wise tho.. -
