  • I hope Haley Heynderickx has new music in store for us in 2021. Spinning "I Need To Start A Garden" and it's just spectacular.
Is Bandcamp Friday continuing into 2021? Will this Friday be one? I can't seem to find the info on this and I bet someone here knows.
In case you missed it like I did in hubbub of holidays: new Four Tet album dropped on Dec 25. Maybe two new albums actually, but I'm only seeing one on streaming services.
Where do I find out about why a particular record is so incredibly dynamic? I'm specifically referring to Yorke's ANIMA. I would love to learn about why the sound on this record is so immersive in comparison to most records I own.

Holy sheeeeet, I just google Bob Ludwig and what he's mastered. Please tell me there is a documentary about him. I just want to hear him talk about his life.

Yep. He did Rage Against The Machines debut album, it's pretty much reference quality. And I believe he's said numerous times that it's the mastering he's most proud of in his career. I think...

This is the best AOTY list I've seen. Not necessarily bc I agree with the order, but bc the inclusion of the "For Fans Of". Checking out a ton of new albums from this list today … EARLYWORM’s Top Albums of 2020 — EARLYWORM
Seeing posts on insta of people receiving their Grandaddy 20th Anniversary Deluxe Sophtware Slump records has me feeling the jealousy.
Submitted my 13 entries for this "2020 Song of the Year" elimination bracket with a group of friends. It's tricky because they've been doing this for years, and I'm somewhat new, so I try to include my actual favorite songs and also songs I know won't be on their lists (from rap, electronica, pop). List below.

@MadLucas last year was my first year and it went really well, I got a bunch of my songs into the top16, but not much beyond that. The winner is often a foregone conclusion because it's the song you see on a bunch of lists, but it's still a fun endeavor.
Pretty sure this has been stated already, but worth reminding: as a music fan, check out the documentary Other Music when you can. I think some of the spirit of that place is alive here in N&G. And support your local record store!!!
Com Truise does it again – music that transports me back to the late 80s as a kid playing Outrun in the arcade. The track Reciprocity on his new one is dope.
Began the morning with Mary Lattimore and now listening to this beautiful new Force Majeure album from Intl Anthem. I didn't intend today to be so much harp, but glad it happened!

the Force Majeure album was a pleasant surprise this morning. Very good stuff.
Adrianne Lenker's AMA yesterday is both what I expected, and so much more. She's a sage at a young age:

I may be an ass but she seems sincere about analog recordings so I let her know maybe she should be a bit more selective about the actual pressings, haha. All my big thief records are shit. They are one of my favorite bands, too.

Yeah, I have some issues with my Big Thief records too, but I'm not an audiophile to know why analog might be a cause. I enjoyed reading her thoughtful and sometime lengthy answers about personal topics.

Especially with her recent album, there's parts when the high vocals are distorted. It's a bummer
Grandaddy's The Sophtware Slump … on a wooden piano released today. Sitting here getting chills listening to the epic opening track. So many memories associated with this album. So happy Jason did this.
Still a month and a half to go, but my #1 music discovery of 2020 is still BC Camplight. He's got a few albums, it's just that I only discovered him until this year. Shortly After Takeoff released this year is a trip.
Steady Holiday's recent single Living Life is just fantastic. I saw her open for Islands a couple years ago and enjoyed her set, but this is next level stuff.
