Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

I thought about vintage but I just don't want the "possible" hassle..........the PLX 1000 has been the main contender so far.

Very good point. I haven't had any real issues with my Technics I bought used around 5 years ago. (outside of easy stuff having to refill damping fluid for the cue level and oiling the spindle, cleaning contacts etc), but I've had two janky turntables in the past that did annoy me. Sometimes I think the shops that sell "refurbished" decks are a little too confident in their ability to repair them lol. Very hard to find a reputable tech, and without one the vintage decks could become a money sink.

Damn!! Starting to seem like their making room for the Legend series, it kind of feels like Polk unloaded these to Adorama at some insanely low price and they're just moving them.......at $550 you have to question how much they have into them. I'm guessing you may see these OOS in the near future. But JUMP on these if your in the market...........I have to be strong, lol

Yeah, I'm thinking this must be the final clearing house now that the legend series is announced.
As a reminder, don't let the price fool you into getting to run these with a $500 AVR. These speakers have impedance dips down to 2.8ohms. You don't need a ton of watts, but you'll need a fairly beefy amp to get everything out of them.

Do these really get down to 20hz? That's some serious bass.

edit: actually read it and no, they go down to 38hz which makes more sense and is still pretty decent.
Sound and Vision tested them to go down to 34, so yeah, not quite 20 but still much deeper than average. If you have an amp that will keep up with those big impedance dips, it's pretty impressive. At the current price, it's full on insane.

When I was in the business, we bought semi trailers full of a particular model. We sold them for $600 a pair. Dealer cost was $120 a pair.

Man, if I needed a third set of floorstanders, I'd buy these. Hell of a deal.
