Pre-Order Thread

One of my absolute grails is being reissued. I almost paid $200 dollars for this at the start of the pandemic but it goes for a whole lot more than that now.

Yeah, this is barely a bump in price for Backwoodz at all. I'm pretty sure Brass (billy woods & Moor Mother's collaborative album) was $50 for a single LP upon release, which I absolutely regret balking on at the time because they're going for $100+ now!
Brass was $30USD. Sorry if that makes it hurt more! At the time I did hesitate for a minute because it wasn't on streaming so buying it was the only way to hear it. It was the beginning of the price increases because Shrines was $25, then Brass $30, then Haram $40 and on up from there.

But yeah clearly driven by demand since some of the ones that were $25 are going for $300 on discogs. I think it is a great sign of success for some guys that fought for it for a long time underground but a bummer for us consumers.

Your selling window is closing fast (I kid, since it’s your grail I’m sure you’ll want multiple copies)

Ah! Must've been $50 with shipping then. Factor a weaker dollar on top of that and it just seemed a bit much. And was before I realized Sons of Kemet played on it, way early into my Moor Mother love, AND before I really finally got turned on to billy woods...so it just wound up being a no go. Dumb dumb dumb.

My good friend through whom I first heard of billy woods really wants an OG Hiding Places and that shit was already bananas when he told me about it a couple years ago. Just looked now and it's outright OBSCENE!

I guess I didn't phrase that properly. I've never owned it. Grails that I've wanted repressed, but didn't own already, The Discogs prices on this thing are stupid.

While my original post on Backwoodz stated they rarely repress, "rarely" is key here, because they did do a repress of Rome recently in a deluxe edition. Given that, let's hope they eventually do similar things with the Armand Hammer and billy woods catalog. It took me some time for billy woods / AH to click, but once it did, everything did, and the lyrical content and beats are just incredible on most albums. I'd love to hear Brass, Parrafin, Terror Management, History Will Absolve Me, et, on wax.

I spend a lot of time in Western MA, and he has some connection to this restaurant in Easthampton, MA that occasionally hosts shows called Daily Op. I've seen him a couple times there now, which is just crazy luck. It's esp cool bc it's a small town, and a small venue, so he chills after and chats with fans.

It's been my "oh shit I need money now" part of my collection
Yeah I constantly have about 100 records in that bucket. Then I'll go check them occassionally and if they're selling high, I throw them up for higher. Then if someone wants to buy it for that so be it (offers enabled). There's no harm in putting it out there, you can also decline offers if you're not feeling it.

Just the thought of the tells me I should not do it because I don't want to sell

Better looking variants too.

It seems like woods plans on keeping his and Armand Hammer's albums in print, they just tend to only do a couple reissues a year at most and never in huge pressing amounts. Hold tight and they will come around. Probably be a while before Paraffin and HWAM are repressed though since they were done recently. I think maybe Known Unknowns and Hiding Places are next up. I'm waiting on TIWN.

Unless they outsource reissues to Fat Possum and then all bets are off.
