It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

100million for a squad of 15

Starting 11 gets you points

Points for players doing stuff

League of us
basically.

You have to have 5 defense, 5 mid, 3 CFs, 2 GKs.

There is no draft, so most people have the same players more/less.

No more than 3 players can be from the same team.

Unlimited transfers until the season begins.

1 free transfer each Gameweek, more than 1 and it costs points that could be earned during the week of play.

Captaining a player will double points so choose wisely. Vice captain will be Captain should the captain not play.

There's other boosts you can use once like Triple captain, free play, etc.

Whoa, ONE TRANSFER A WEEK? That's tough. So you're mainly looking for someone that will consistently perform week to week?

Well one free transfer (which you can roll over to have a max of 2 free in a single week. You can technically have as many as you want but beyond the freebies it’s 4 points per transfer. You also have one free hit where it wipes your team and you can start again.

The skill is to get a solid base and anticipate form with your 1 a week. It’s rare that your team at the end of the season is that similar to your team at the start of the season.

I'm still sad Thicc FC won't have the thicc boy himself, but Barkley may be becoming the dark horse of the season and fill that roll.

Barkley looked like classic Lampard yesterday.
I honestly don't know what's gotten into him. He's been playing like that all preseason. His aggression, his pressing, and his vision has been superb. I think Frank is going to turn Barkley and Mount into really special players. I think he can really open up United's defense.

Mount looks like a talent. Barkley is a head down merchant, lots of talent, no vision or bigger picture. Also a breeze could open up our defense unless we get that other centre half in...

Also fear our front four, the interchange and movement has looked exceptional in the run outs and Greenwood is looking like the rumours I've been hearing the last couple of years are spot on!

Oh, I have no doubt you will score against us. We are going to score a lot too. I think this is going to be 3-3, maybe 4-3 game honestly with how shit both of our defenses are! Whoever wins will just be who creates the most chances rather than who actually defends well haha.

That's the thing, Barkley always looks like that, but this preseason he's looked like a brand new player. He's doing things I didn't even know he could do. It's baffling honestly.

I’m still to be convinced. There have been a few times it’s looked like the penny has dropped and he’s gone on a run only to revert to type. I remember that first year up top with Lukaku at Everton being particularly like that!

We’ve just agreed a deal now for the player we’ve been missing, potentially add Dybala to the mix and I’m excited again for the first time in a few years. The proof will be in the pudding but no Mourinho and, what seem like, sensible signings is a breath of fresh air.

Its highly unlikely to be 3-3 or 4-3, there’s far too much nous in both squads and management teams to allow that to happen, neither will be as open as in a pre season game with nothing on the line and where they are experimenting

Yeah Arsenal badly need centre halves. That said I like Belerin a lot and if they get Tierney he is an under the radar world class left back, i rate him higher than his compatriot Robertson at Liverpool. Typical scotland though, two top drawer players and they both play in the same position...

Also I think that a 4-3-3 with a midfield of

Celabos Ghendouzzi/Xhaka
Torriera

Is more likely than that ridiculous 4-2-3-1 and more solid looking. My money is on Ozil being further marginalised this season.

So, if the two negotiations with players (we’ve agreed the deals) for players go through we’re looking like a strongest 11 of

Rashford
Martial Mata/Lingard Dybala
Pogba McTominay
Shaw Maguire Lindelof Wan-Bisakka
De Gea

With some exciting young attacking back up in the shape of James, Greenwood, Gomes and Chong. We aren’t quite ready to challenge again but that team shouldn’t be as bad as last years!

I am a Bellerin fan. I think expectations for him got a little out of hand there for a bit a couple of years ago. I don't know much about Tierney but people are excited about the prospect. As for Ozil, I think it's about time... The bad outweighed the good more often than not last year for me.

I’m from a family of Celtic fans, I’ve seen a lot of Tierney, he’s the real deal and then some, if he adapts I think he’s the best young British left back right now. I’d kinda like to see him stay at Celtic for the same reason...

That Dybala rumor is looking pretty fishy, no? As for Maguire, you guys overpaid like crazy but he will be huge for you.

Chelsea will still win next Sunday tho :)

We overpaid because we had to. We needed a centre half who is ready, not a prospect, and with Premier League experience. He’s it, there isn’t another one around who is available to sign! I’d rather overpay on him than buy a great centre half from abroad that doesn’t settle.

The sources of the Dybala swap are, as far as these things go, pretty trustworthy, it’s not from these nonsense two bit sites but proper journalists. That said there’s a lot of convincing of him still to be done.

I really like Lukaku but he doesn't work in the current system you lot have. Dybala is really good but had a less than stellar season last year playing second fiddle to Ronaldo. Do you think Dybala would come in and unseat Rashford? Where would he play?

As a Juve fan with multiple Dybala jerseys, I am so torn on this transfer news. On one hand I think it is absolutely insane to swap Dybala for Lukaku (like what? come on!) but on the 2nd hand, Dybala really did not fit within our offensive scheme last year and if they already know that he wouldn't likely fit Sarri's system either (Idk enough about Sarri to know), then maybe it is best to move on. :(
