Everything Video Games!

This game is out for a week and already these?
yeah, crazy right?!? even considering it leaked a little early and some people had a bit of a headstart, it doesn't take away from his quickly people are making mind blowing inventions. I wonder how far it'll go as people have even more time with the game?

just arrived at my second temple... damn, I am in love with this game!!!

though I really wish I would find Hetsu after the first time, I have a decent amount of seeds and would really like to use them for more inventory slots

I finally started Breath of the Wild this winter, just playing occasionally. Finally got a pro controller on your recommendation and have been enjoying it a lot the last couple days. Just finished my second divine beast. I also find the weapon churning kind of tiresome but overall it's super fun. The new one sounds incredible.

I watched a video on YouTube yesterday the highlighted the most anticipated RPG games using the Unreal 5 Engine that are expected out later this year or next year.

I was completely blown away, not by just the graphics looking so incredible, but the game stories are all something I would thoroughly enjoy playing.

I was looking up the games this morning, and to my disappointment, not a single one is being released on the PlayStation or any console to that matter. They are all releasing PC, Steam and Mobile. No PS5, no xbox, not even for a later release.

What's the deal here?

Link to the vid? I'd be interested in seeing a round up of what is coming down the line.

Can't sympathize much w the console blues, as I'm 100% on the PC train. Aside from the handful of console exclusives, I've never seen the appeal. And nowadays all the gems are being ported to PC eventually. Ok, ok...I had to wait years for Last of Us and the launch was less than stellar but I got it. Now in five years when I'm finally playing GoW Ragnarok I'll be laughing at you all!!!

haven't PC ports been in a poor state lately, even with using beefy GPUs?

Yes and no. That's why I called the LoU port less than stellar. But some have been fine (eg Spiderman). I think RDR2 had some bugs at first but they've gotten fixed (never played it). GoW had no issues for me.

Last of Us was a funny one. I think the war is still raging on in the Steam forums and comment section for the game. I have a 2019 build w a NVIDIA 2060 Super, so def a PC that will soon start showing its age. But I played LoU mostly without issue. To be fair, I played it after two big patches already dropped and I hear it was abysmal before then. As well, I played on low settings to not even tempt fate. I prob could have bumped up settings but the xp was fine for me. The weird thing is there are reviewers w newer, more capable rigs complaining of issues. Some people took hours to build shaders upon initial launch. My PC took about 45 minutes and then annoyingly had to rebuild them w every subsequent patch (on top of the fact that some of the updates were massive and time sucks). But playing was mostly smooth. I had some frame rate drops usually when first loaded like the game was shaking off the dust. All and all I had a fine xp and really enjoyed the game play but it was surely a shit show.

About 15 hours into TOTK and it's still very, very overwhelming with all the different things to do and places to explore.

BOTW was mostly linear. It is an open world game but it's all on one plane of existance. You could find the Sheikah towers and open up the map. Work your way to each of the 4 Devine Beasts and start to get your bearings for the game.

In TOTK, there's so much more to explore. I got to the Great Plateau yesterday and completely forgot that it was an area in BOTW because it was early game. It's in TOTK as a whole new region all it's own. I've gone close to the Depths but I'm not even going to go down there until I need to in the story or I get at least the first row of hearts from shrines. The sky islands I've sparingly discovered and explored via the Sky Towers. Sometimes I'll fly over to one and then realize there's not much I can do yet on them so I just note that I'll likely need to come back for a mission or with another ability or tool later in the game.

The shrines themselves are really, really fun. I've only needed to look up how to complete one once since I had no idea what to do at all. I'd say they're easier than BOTW shrines and way more fun.

Same here, I'm just kind of wandering around and not really doing any of the missions yet. I'll be heading to a shrine, and then a sky piece will fall, so I'll rewind it back up, land on an island full of creatures that fuck me up, jump off, land in a whole nother area, discover a cave.. this is a snowball that could just go on for hours it seems

the amount of times I started playing this game with a goal in mind, to only constantly get sidetracked by something else interesting, I don't know when I'll get done with this game.

I wonder how much I should be doing in the depths where I'm at in the game, every time down there I come out with most of my weapons and food depleted trying to deal with the baddies down there

yup same! It's not a bad thing though. I'm having fun doing it. Like last night I set off to find one of the next Great Fairies and was side-tracked by several shrines along the way and 3 different side missions. Then when you have 3 Light Blessings it's "well I should find one more so I can get a new heart or stamina peice". Go to a Goddess Statue, get upgrade, get distracted after that with a new side-mission, etc. rinse, repeat.

Last night was the first time I realized the sky pieces can be rewound, and now I’m so ready to go back up. I’m loosely following the story missions but with as many detours as possible. Need to rack up those shrines to increase my hearts and stamina. I’m so glad that I have access to my horses from BOTW. I recently had my first encounter with gloom and… it did not go well.

Last night was like that for me. I’m slowly making my way to the Rito village but then figured I’d check if the Forgotten Temple was still there. Then I ran into
Impa
and while I was looking for what she asked me to look for I found an inconspicuous hole that led me to a cave that led me to a losing fight against
Phantom Ganon.
A few more shrines here and there and I decided to plunge into
The Depths
for the first time.

At that point it was lights off, let’s go. I decided to not teleport out of there and instead try to find my way out. Died a couple of times, of course (I’m still running at 4 hearts only, haven’t traded in any orbs since dropping from the sky). The single smartest decision I made was to tame a skeletal horse, which gave me speed and allowed me to traverse over gloomy ground. Fought a few baddies but for the most part just snuck around or ran away. Loved the fact that, when I lost hearts to gloom, I instinctively returned to one of the light trees and saw that it restored my ability to heal. Just incredible design.

And yes, it’s absolutely Blackreach-y. Though now that I think about it, massive underworlds have always been a thing (I’m thinking of Final Fantasy IV). When I finally found a way out, it was such a relief that I just had to start a bonfire and chill.

I stayed up way too late.
