They did a story about it on NPR and it sounds like that was what they were going for.I really like the new Durand Jones solo album. a lot. The recording is hot shit though. It's not the vinyl, it's the mix, it's all super distorted on digital. I want to know if it was a conscious choice or if someone fucked up. Like if it were produced better, It would be a serious AOTY contender for me.

They said something along the lines that one of the tales sounds so raw and energetic that decided to keep it even though the mics weren’t set up right rendering the whole thing fuzzy and distorted.
Right, but the whole thing was recorded live and while I don’t think it was necessarily intentional, it sounds like the sun par recordings were tolerated for the sake of rawness/energy.It's not just one song, it's the whole fucking thing. Thanks for the link though. I'll give it a listen.
Yeah, the Bridgers Vinyl mix on Punisher was unlistenable but the digital was okay if I recall.Like remember how bad it is on Pheobe's record. It's worse. I hope this isn't a new trend.
I seriously thought I’d blown a speaker or something when I first played it.Right, but the whole thing was recorded live and while I don’t think it was necessarily intentional, it sounds like the sun par recordings were tolerated for the sake of rawness/energy.
I haven’t heard the album outside of what they played on NPR so maybe they just did a shitty job but in the interview they paint a different picture.

I'm really enjoying this new B.C. Camplight album! He's a new me to me artist.
If this is your first go with him, definitely check out the last album, Shortly After Takeoff, which is my favorite. The track Back to Work is an all timer for me.I'm really enjoying this new B.C. Camplight album! He's a new me to me artist.
