December 2022 Vinyl Spin Challenge: The Intergalactic Mixtape Dance-Off!

It seems credited to someone else, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was influenced by him. Drugdealer likes to emulate the late 70's pop rock and yacht rock sounds and Jaco doesn't fall too far from that.

Oh, so it's newer music, like recorded after Jaco died?

As I'm only playing Christmas songs up to the 25th, I thought I'd share that playlist early. Not sure of the flow (not helped by only having exactly 25 Xmas albums), but happy with the first look of this

Sadly, day 2 of the Beatles' Christmas Time Is Here is missing (at least for me)...

No worries... I think I pooched the flow of my mix weeks ago. I think I should have doubled down and made it as chaotic as possible.

Day 28 – (Don’t Fear) The Reaper
Come on, baby (don't fear the reaper). Baby, take my hand (don't fear the reaper). We'll be able to fly (don't fear the reaper). Baby, I'm your man.
Play something heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy

Elvis Perkins "Ash Wednesday" - this one is heavy, the first half of songs were written before his mom died on 9/11 the second half after...the 12th was the anniversary of his father's death so September doesn't seem like a month you'd be looking forward to! Saw him open for someone, honestly I can't remember, and bought this record off him as he was manning the merch table and got a few bad signatures off him and his band. The song While You Were Sleeping is still such an amazing song to me and when they played it each member of the band would walk on stage and start playing it until they were all there and he started singing it! Or maybe I got that wrong, maybe he stared on his own and the band joined in one at a time? My memory is shit!

And cleanliness is godliness, and God is empty

I will not fear the Reaper even if I'm on a ...

AC/DC - Highway to Hell

Edit: Huh, Apple Music is not linking to the right album, sorry about that

Kevin Bacon is a kernel of an excellent idea (he's truly everywhere - I watched the Guardians Holiday Special last night that he's fully featured as himself throughout the entire story).

6 degrees of David Bowie?

Glad I'm not alone, I'm already anxious about July 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ya, I just need to sit down and plot it out. This years challenges have been so well done, the bar is set really high. I will just sit down for a bit in Jan 1 and put it on 'paper'. I find if I get it out of my head then it doesn't rattle around in there. The question is can I start and end the month with 2 Kevin Bacon prompts? Challenge accepted.

I knew when I preordered this several months ago, that I would forget and be surprised. And it just arrived at my doorstep today!

Day 29 – (I Ran) So Far Away
… And I ran, I ran so far away. I just ran, I ran all night and day. I couldn't get away.
Play some 80’s music. Or play something by an artist with a crazy hairdo.

Girls on film is a fucking classic.

Duran Duran - S/T

One of the original art pop pillars. Thank you to Jenny Hval (and Lost Girls, for that matter) for being a driving force in having this album click with me after many attempts. I definitely understand why Julia Holter takes influence from her as well; spoken word amidst avant-garde passages is a vital component to her music.
