New Music Friday!

Radar List for 10.14.22

Mathias Kom & Toby Goodshank - Miller Time
Mykki Blanco - Stay Close to Music
Can – Live in Cuxhaven 1976
Various – Here It Is: A Tribute to Leonard Cohen
Charlotte Dos Santos - Morfo
Kool G Rap – Last of a Dying Breed
Brian Eno - ForeverAndEverNoMore
Sam Gendel - Uroko
Rival Consoles - Now Is
Skullcrusher - Quiet The Room

A couple from the last few weeks that I didn't see mentioned here.

Lee Baggett - Anyway. Kind of a sun-baked freak folk (kinda) rocking americana album.

Milan McAlevey - Islands of Milans. Maine based singer/songwriter formerly 1/2 of Coke Weed. Breezy and folky. Walter Martin (formerly) from the Walkmen plays on the album (and, for those paying attention, has a song called Me & McAlevey on his album Reminisce Bar and Grill).

I've never listened to Gilla Band/Girl Band, but I thought that based on what I knew of them they'd be right up my alley. After a song and a half ..... absolutely not my thing. I like my fair share of abrasive music but ... nope.
Listening to it now, but I'm the opposite. I keep getting into more abrasive music as I get older. Maybe it's just the hearing loss and I crave the noise?

Glad to finally be back working.

🔥
  • Daphni - Cherry [wait, so this is Dan Snaith? The production sounded familiar. This is great!]
  • Open Mike Eagle - Component System With the Auto Reverse
👍
  • Alvvays - Blue Rev
  • Oren Ambarchi - Shebang
  • Courtney Marie Andrews - Loose Future [first time listening to her music, and it was worthwhile. Old Flowers will get an eventual try someday]
  • Sofie Birch, Antonina Nowacka - Languoria [might be your calling, @nolalady]
  • Vessel of Iniquity - The Path Unseen
  • A.A. Williams - As the Moon Rests [very good. Although a bit long for its own good, and some songs are indifferentiable from others]
🤷‍♂️
  • Bonny Light Horseman - Rolling Golden Holy
  • Johanna Warren - Lessons for Mutants
  • Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Cool it Down
👎
  • Jessica Moss - Galaxy Heart [it hurts me to put this here. Off the heels of the stunning Phosphenes (a top50 entry from last year), this one sounds gross and cluttered too often. Although the closing cut was enjoyable, it ultimately doesn't carry the load]

No thoughts on the new Clarence Clarity? 👀

I forgot about this! I was going to listen later hoping that it would be on Spotify but it didn't get added to Clarence's catalogue. I will get to it this week.
Yeah, it looks to be a Bandcamp Friday exclusive project as he's done in the past. I'm hoping this is a prelude to the second EP of the Vanishing Act trilogy he started last year finally coming out.
