All Things King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

Seeing them in October so maybe grab some copies there. This band releases to much for me to preorder anymore 😂
It really feels like the 5-album years are probably the ceiling for just about anyone's creative output. As an experiment it's fun to see what limits they can push, but as a career? I don't see how it ends in anything other than flaming out.

How many albums does Bucket Head have? 500 or something? 😂

I can see them keeping this up for a long time and it excites me! it'll just definitely take a hit on what I own physically!

I think the key difference is that KGLW is such a collaborative project. When everything is humming along, being prolific is great, but all it takes is for one or two members to get out of sync with the rest of the group for that cadence to fall apart. Marriage, kids, health issues...all of that life stuff places stress on the group dynamic.

I mean, maybe they'll surpass expectations. They already have; maybe they'll continue like this forever. It's not sustainable for most artists though.

I sincerely did not expect to compare & contrast Gizz & Bucket Head when I woke up this morning!

Rats Nest was only three members i think? Ambrose/Cook also have the Murlocs/Pipe-Eye, side projects. While there haven't been a ton of lineup changes, I don't think they have an issue not including every member if they aren't particularly feeling it.

Gizz seems to be Stu's main creative output and if Dwyer/Zappa/Buckethead could be used as points of reference, I think we may just be along for the ride.

that's how I feel about them.... sure, it's curious to think how/why such a prolific band will end, but I'm choosing to focus on the journey rather than the destination

Good points. If they continue to be inspired, I'm here for it. It's just hard to comprehend how they do it.

For me they kinda did flame out with their first super productive year in 2017. Nothing they have put out since then has matched the best 2 albums from that year for me. I don't think flame out is the best way to put it, maybe just grown out of my preferences. I still look for them but haven't been compelled to buy since then. I still have hope and try to check all their releases.

Actually behind on their releases and I need to check Omnium Gatherium maybe it will be the one. I hope I love all the new ones too. Not trying to be a downer!

All of this has literally already happened, their manager/second drummer left, at least three of them have kids/got married in the last few years and Stu has been dealing with Crohn's disease his whole life.
I think it's all structured so loosely that they can all fill in the gaps when needed in different ways.

Yeah the Crohn's is what made me mention health issues. It definitely can mess with things enough to force them to cancel shows and go home.
