Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Looking specifically at 2005, man there are so many Indie albums I would absolutely love over LCD Soundsystem.
It's a shame that the clue pretty much kills any of them.

EDIT: I mean look at this shit! 2005 indie rock albums - Google Search

The next time LCD writes a song I want to listen to will be the first time, but even with your premise, yeah. Going back through my Best of 2005 mix was a blast. Most of it is already on vinyl but there are a bunch of fantastic non-NYC albums from that year.

It also reminded me I need to harass Mac some more about why Portastatic's Bright Ideas isn't on vinyl yet :D

i think the fact that july to September is confirmed no channel orange, when july will literally be the 10th anniversary and thus probably the only chance they could get at that album.... means we are never getting channel orange

I think the fact that it’s July to September is because that’s the 3rd quarter of the year and they’ve been announcing quarterly for awhile now.

no i know that... but i am saying that july was probably the closest we could have gotten since its the 10 year anniversary..

so this year was the final year they could attempt for it.. and we didn't get it

It would be a big enough release that wouldn’t necessarily need an arbitrary anniversary for VMP to choose it as the ROTM. If VMP ever got the rights to reissue Orange. It would be the ROTM, maybe in the 4th quarter, maybe next year, maybe in five years. Probably as soon as they could possibly release, they would.

For 1976, it seems wide open.

I'd love to see Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak. Would be a natural group for the listening notes and I don't see a recent US reissue at all.

My initial thought is that it'll be the Modern Lovers album, but there's a number of directions this pick could go.

also i think this would fit... its supposed to be 3 different kinds of rock

1. post punk revival
2. dance punk
3. blues rock

and though i am pretty sure they don't even REMEMBER the book they made... it is on the list of their 50 albums to own on vinyl

There was a widely available Jailbreak reissue a few years ago (I have it) - Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak. Totally decent, but could be improved I’m sure.

Part of me kinda wants them to do some totally cheesy classic rock like Steve Miller or Boston or Doobie Brothers or whatever 😆

I would absolutely buy in for an Yellow/Black Blob 2xLP pressing of Fly Like An Eagle.

There are some serious tap the keg bangers on that album: Title Track; Wild Mountain Honey; Dance x3 and Take the Money and Run,

Wikipedia says Rolling Stone called it the best album of 1976.
He is definitely his own brand of Rock.
You may have stumbled on something here

I am very lukewarm to the idea of VMP jumping on the classic rock train. If it was a AAA version of a really great album I'd consider it, but I'm also okay spending a few hours in my local antique shops and coming away with a handful of decent quality albums for about the same price. The true classics I probably already own in my collection, or there's some really good remasters out there.

After I pour hot cooking oil on them in order to staunch the flow of Steely Dan into my earholes.
Those smooth pristine melodies and witty, biting wordplay can’t be destroyed. They didn’t name one of their records Countdown To Ecstasy for nothing. Whatta way to soundtrack your self immolation!
