New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

Keep us posted as you work your way through the collection.
Just cleaned my new KG Marvin Gaye which was SHOCKINGLY dirty. There was actually some gunk on the needle when I got to the end of side A. Didn’t even have that experience with the old/dirty Tim Buckley.

Overall this really emphasizing the importance of cleaning new records which I’ve definitely neglected in the past. Right now, I’m cleaning my Bill Withers records, moving through alphabetical and listening to the whole collection as I go.

That Marvin Gaye reissue was one of the dirtiest records straight out of the sleeve I've ever experienced!! And yea, a good reminder to always clean new records before spinning them.

Guess whos copy of Happy Sad just went from VG to EX+. You guys really weren’t kidding, I just plopped it there, walked away for 15 mins and now my listening is that much better.
Congratulations! I love reading these first-time posts, because it's shocking how well the HG cleans records.
WOW. First go, an OG of Surf's Up. This was a PIF with a lot of tics and pops throughout, even after two vacuum cleanings. After an HG auto deep cleaning, the surface noise is almost entirely gone. Did I say, wow? Because WOW!!!!!

Starting to realize a lot of nasty audio issues I’ve dwelled upon and tweaked everything from tracking force, to cartridges, to anti-skate, to leveling to fix has been mainly cause of dirty records lmfao.

Whoops.
Unfortunately, the only practical effect of this is that it will redirect (rather than alleviate) your audiophilic neuroses! (If that's not a word, it should be.) Zerostat anyone?...... lol

Okay - I’m feeling the Humminguru vibe today. What are the negatives/drawbacks you have experienced with it?

When I drop a load on this, I better have my story straight when my wife sees how much a paid for a “toaster”! That is, unless I buy her jewelry, too. 😂
I just pulled the trigger on a Humminguru. Perhaps it will arrive around Father’s Day and I can convince her it was her idea. 😏

Order placed. I look forward to joining the cool crew. Question - and sincerely hoping the answer to be no - would you re-sleeve all cleaned records a fresh or just put back in existing sleeve?

So if the record had never been cleaned at all, yes. If I’d cleaned it prior with another machine and resleeved at that time, I’d reuse.

The sleeves I used to get are now no longer available - I have probably 50 left but will then need to move brands. What are you using @Joe Mac ?

I use the sleeve city ones from America. They’re pretty expensive to export though so I don’t blame anyone over here for not using. I just really like how much more rigid they are than most other rice paper ones.

I like the spincare u shaped inners (that I use inside printed sleeves) and I like their outer sleeves too. Not so keen on their rice paper inners (that I use to replace plain paper inners) though, I’d probably try to find a store in the UK that sold MoFi ones if I wasn’t getting the sleeve city.

It was the spincare audiophile inner sleeves I was just looking at. 100 pack for the same price as 50 mofis!

What was it that you didn’t like about them?

I felt they were a little bit floppy and that the plastic side was a bit loose. Im sure they’ll protect the record fine but I like a more rigid inner sleeve that doesn’t crumple up so much when being put into a jacket.

Ah okay. This is what I don’t really like about the Mofi sleeves, so I’ll have to have a look around!

That deal with the Hudson Hi-fi rice paper inner sleeves on Amazon is hard to beat. 500 sleeves for around $75, or 100 sleeves for around $20. I use them, and I know a few others do too. I don't find much if any difference from the mofi sleeves.

Edit: Just noticed the UK address. Not sure the deal with these there, but worth checking out.

I’m team Hudson HiFi inners too. Can’t notice any difference between those and the MoFi ones aside from a huge price difference

Did I mention I picked up a Thunderon brush? When used as instructed it works shockingly well. It’s replaced my ZeroStat and my carbon fiber brush in one go.
I like the thunderon brush too. I have the zerostat with my upstairs setup and the thunderon downstairs. If I didn’t have the zerostat I’d probably just get two thunderons
