New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

Kid A Mnesia is the only record that has had trouble spinning for me. My disc 1 has the divots on the edge, which would catch. Every other disc has spun fine when centered in the slot in the water basin filter.

Yeah, I have not run into issues except in the case of warped records, but I have the luxury of a Vinyl Flat in those cases.

Finally arrived. Not much time to look at it tbh but slightly disappointed there is no physical instructions. I'm onto computer all day & alleging buying records :)

Does anybody know why they sell a water tank as an accessory on the web site? I that prone to breaking, or does it offer an advantage over the one that comes as standard? I'm going to look at ordering the 7" & 10" adapters at some point separately, should I get the additional water tank at the same time?

Really? I thought there was a booklet? I'll agree there were no explicit instructions like how you are supposed to pour the water back through the filter into the water tank. That seemed like an oversight.

If I had another chance I would probably have ordered a spare water tank. I can imagine now a clumsy moment where I drop it when it's full of water and it ends up cracked. Ounce of prevention, pound of cure and all that.

Mine came with a physical instruction booklet! Maybe the second run does not.

The extra tank isn’t really necessary unless you want to be able to do separate detergent and distilled water runs or something. It’s pretty sturdy plastic and I don’t see it falling apart anytime soon.

Yeah, no booklet with mine must have been missed

edit - I think it's available on line so no real problem

I was just about to post the link to the online manual. Here's some advice I learned the hard way:
(1) Keep the area around the unit clear in case of spills. You don't want to get water on the sleeve of the record you just cleaned
(2) The tank lid doesn't snap into place, so you have to hold it down while you pour the water into the basin. I hold the tank with my thumb and middle finger on the sides and my index finger on the top middle hole, to keep the lid in place, then pour slowly and steadily

Also, Can't seem to pay the import charges, the link doesn't work & I haven't received an invoice. Fedex are fantastic

With all my fed ex orders, including this last year, they deliver before you pay the fees and then about 2-3 weeks later I get an invoice for them through the post separate and it has a link on it that gives a link that lets you pay it through PayPal.

I got an SMS and email, but when I try and click through neither work. I'll have to wait for something through the mail like you say

edit - I see the HumminGuru invoice is for much less than I paid so think the charges are slightly less than expected. If I'd have know I probably would have ordered the accessories at the same time

Difficult to focus on work, I want to clean some records :)

They declared mine at 300 dollars which I think was roughly the kickstarter price. By the time the shipping costs were added on it was the guts of €90.

I think they only declared $200 on mine. I'll have to check but was about £330 with shipping, Fedex charges are another £38. Not exactly cheap, but I think still good value for what it is.

I got the HG while at my last work location away from the home. So the wife hadn't seen it yet. I had it set up on the table next to my RCM today. Ya know, doing a tandem record cleaning protocol.

She says, "What's that CD Toaster over there?". Mind you, it has a record in it being toasted at that moment. Geez, lady, call it what it is...a RECORD Toaster.

I’d never thought of it looking like a toaster but now that you mention it. I guess the next time my toast gets a little overdone I can send it through a spin on the HG.

I could see the 2nd tank coming in handy as others have said to do a rinse with only distilled water if you’re using a surfactant in your first wash. I haven’t noticed a huge difference in using surfactant vs only distilled water. The record does get “wetter” but sound-wise haven’t noticed much difference in the end result.

Yesterday was my bday and I received about $350 in bday cash..... should I do the thing? Seems the consensus is overwhelmingly positive
Aside from my bump in the road, I have been really happy with my purchase.

The set it and forget it aspect has been a game changer and I find myself looking forward to cleaning records rather than dreading it.
