Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Same. Hopefully it was just a bad few and not more widespread...

I am now at my office listening to the album on headphones. That same little crackle can be heard throughout the entire side. Its just much worse in the beginning. But the problem is throughout the entire thing. I am still enjoying it and trying to ignore it until my replacement comes.

My 'orders' page says that my replacement is going out with my July ROTMs which kind of sucks. Oh well. Figures.

It's a sad state of affairs. Same nasty popping on Stars. Phoenix seems to be noisy af too. My second Nat Turner is warped worse than the first one and so is the first Outcast. They should consider rebranding to Warp Me, Please.

They really should pack the boxes with more protection for international orders. The shipping trip is so long I bet the packages are more prone to damage. Sorry to hear about your records.

Appreciate the sentiment. :) Good point on packaging. They recently stopped with the bubble wrap altogether. Would be great if that came back.

Getting new copies of Phoenix and Classics. Was told they're going to start doing a nickel test where the warp has to be large enough to fit a nickel under.
So if i stick a nickel under my flat can I get another? Their whole approach to "resolutions" seems mind boggling. Just say no and move along if you think it's not substandard. detailed rules usually just beget more rules to clarify the rules. SMH

I'm international and my VMP records are nearly always flat. I haven't had a bad warp for ages. It's just luck of the draw, I reckon.

This is shaping up to be the weakest VMP month since I’ve joined imo. I have zero interest in the RHH or Classics selections. Jorge Ben I’m in on for sure though.

Over the past year or so I’ve limited myself to only a single VMP record per month. Jorge Ben is a no-brainer this month, and I will probably go with the new Sleater-Kinney in August if the rest of the album is half as good as “Hurry On Home.”

“If it plays - it's within tolerance.”

This think I hate this rule more than the nickel rule. My former LP60 couldn’t track a lot of records that my Ultradeck tracks just fine. That includes perfectly flat and well pressed records that just have high dynamic range. Just because it plays doesn’t make it acceptable. A very good TT might be able to track a record that fails the nickel test. But that doesn’t suddenly make it acceptable.

I think VMP is starting to forget their price point. I do think the core product is still premium, but a bad pressing makes everything else worthless.
