Online Vinyl Deals

Bandbox order arrived today. Box split in half, at no fault of the label I don’t believe. We’ll see how they respond.

WARNING: Not for the squeamish (or @Mather)

Good God!

That's a Chief Brody warp.

"You're gonna need a bigger flattener."

Added Experienced to my Father Day list this weekend. I could use a upgrade on my older copies. Do you think the same versions Axis and Ladyland might come back as well ?

I got axis recently after waiting 3-4 months. I think they are pretty much in constant production at QRP, if you wait a few months they should turn up,

10% off at music direct. It excludes MoFi and preorders, but not items that are out of stock/awaiting repress

I ordered the AP 2LP versions of Morrison Hotel and LA Woman for $49.49 each. MD says they're awaiting repress, but AS has LA Woman in stock. Hoping the wait won't be too long, but in any event MD doesn't charge until they ship.

Having to spend at least $99 to get the 10% is a deal breaker for me. (But thanks for posting this. Obviously it wouldn't be hard to hit that limit and benefit from the offer.)

Oh yeah, that's why I posted my example. It's hard to find sales on AP titles, but this deal works with three $35 titles or two $55 titles

I ordered this one. It was my first time ordering from Amazon in a while because they had started shipping albums to me in nothing but unpadded plastic bags and they were all arriving damaged, then I would complain and the replacements were shipped the same way. This time I had some gift card $, and the price was right, but they did it again and it arrived all bent up.

This has to be regional or something because I don't think ive ever gotten a record from them like this

Yeah, it’s a mix bag up here. More often than not albums are packaged in a record mailer but every now and again we get a record in a padded mailer or a giant box with like a random strip of those giant air packing stuff. The worst was my SY Goo Boxset where Amazon just slapped the shipping label directly to the shrink and called it a day. Surprisingly it showed up in perfect condition.

A few months ago, it went from being very rare to probably three quarters of what they sent me, so I gave up.

Yup, I have been a Prime member for most of the last 10 or so years due to living a bit out of the way from most stores and besides the occasional problem here and there it was mostly at least solid. Since this year especially though i've probably dropped my Vinyl buying from Amazon 90% since nearly all of them come damaged now. I'd say the last 4-5 straight have been damaged and have come from several different Warehouses. I'm not even that picky either, i'll usually just live with a small bent corner or a small seam split for most.

I believe if the record already comes in a mailer from the distro then you're obviously good but if not there's little to no chance it's going to be shipped correctly and you just have to pray you're lucky and the damage is minimal. It's def. not just vinyl though for me, packaging is awful all around.

Can you ask them to gift wrap it for added protection 🤷‍♂️ ?

It's a good idea in theory and should work but it's Amazon haha.. I've had them just tuck the "gift receipt" inside of the plastic bag or throw it in a box thats 3x's the size of the record with nothing but a single air packet strip and the gift receipt (this is actually what happened with the last record and the entire box and record were nearly bent in half which was a mixture of amazon's horrible packaging and zero eff's given by the USPS but still mostly amazon as it would have been damaged regardless packaged that way). I've read countless people having the same kind of experiences all over Reddit and the SteveHoffman forums as well trying it out, especially recently.

I'm still hoping it improves at least a little bit over time and goes back to being more of a somewhat rare occurrence then being nearly every time.

***If you meant the extra $6 fee to ship it in a gift bag then I haven't tried that but it would usually kill nearly any deals at that point and it doesn't seem like it would help much imo but i'd be interested to hear anyone that has done it just out of pure curiosity.

Weirdly, almost all of my Amazon record purchases in the past year or so have come packed in a record mailed then inside of another larger box with those air bubble strips. Just got Bill Callahan’s Gold Record and it was packed like that. I’ve had the experience where it was a warehouse deal and they slapped a sticker on the album and mailed it but I’ve been lucky in that my deliveries have mostly been okay.

That's great to hear especially if it's been consistently good. Hopefully I get some of that coming my way because without a local it's nice to get some good cheap deals here and there from Amazon. I'm also hoping more labels or whoever makes the decision before sending it to the Amazon warehouses sends them there in lp mailers already because those are the only well packed ones i've gotten in a good while.

Yeah, Warehouse deals have always been an extreme wild card so I dont even count those as far as being surprised if it comes damaged/poorly packed.

Speaking of Amazon they are doing the re-load/buy a gift card for $40+ and get $10 back in credit again starting today (06-21) until tomorrow. It works even if you did it previously earlier this month. Might have to take a gamble if there's some decent deals on vinyl to see if my luck has changed.
