Everything Video Games!

I recently got a Nintendo Switch every getting a bonus at work and a bunch of extra fee lance checks.

Paid off some debts and treated myself.

I got it for Pokemon Sword & Shield. I have been wanting to play that game for a couple years now.

I just picked up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe yesterday. Quite a blast. I love that game and have played it in like 10 years. Mario Kart 8 so far is my favorite one from the franchise that I have played, so well worth the purchase.

So far I have:
  • Pokemon Shield + Expansion Pass
  • Pokemon Yellow
  • Mario Kart 8
Anyone have any good game recommendations?
I have plenty but it all depends what you're into. RPG? Action? Adventure? Sports? Simlulation? Strategy? Puzzles?

RPG is pretty hit or miss for me. There are some RPG games that I absolutely love, but a lot of them I get bored with very quick.

Final Fantasy I loved growing up. I downloaded the demo for Bravely Default 2 and didn't really connect with it.

I love racing games like Mario Kart, Sonic Racing and F-Zero. Not really into sports games. Strategy and Puzzle games I would dig. Adventure, maybe, give me an example of a game.

The Witcher, pretty much one of the best RPGs ever made.

MAYBE Hollow Knight IF you like or would consider metroidvanias. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 was pretty fun, especially if you enjoy co-op (supports online + local). Also look at Luigis Mansion 3, was a fun game for the Mrs and I.

Since you like racing games, I would recommend Gear.Club Unlimited 2, a realistic driving game that features over 50 licensed cars from around the world 🌎 and it supports local multi-player up to 4 players.

Besides that, my personal favorite and a must play ▶️ is Super Mario Odyssey 👌 You'll have countless hours of fun playing this Action-adventure game 🎮 and I mean who doesn't like Mario 🍄 right?

Another great game, if you have like open world designs to discover and explore is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. One of the best, if not the best game available on the Switch. This game is a masterpiece 👏

Anyone end up picking up anything in the PS3 store? Thinking about picking up some PSOne classics like Medal of Honor and Frontline. Debating buying stuff like Sim Theme Park and SimCity 2000 but I think I’d be buying purely for nostalgia purposes.

Others I was looking at:

Infamous Festival

Last of Us

Silent Hill

Chrono Trigger
Arkham city

If you have the "move" and are into rail shooters
The House of the dead arcade ports are bundled (3/4/Overkill extended)!
I think HOTD 4 is exclusive to PS3 (or arcade)

It should be illegal to own a Switch and not play both Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. They’re two of the best games ever made, and basically the reason the system exists.

I should note that I’m a big RPG person (my most-played games on the Switch are Skyrim and Fire Emblem: Three Houses with over 400 hours each, and Witcher 3 is quickly climbing up there). I still feel strongly about Odyssey and BOTW being the two most essential titles though. BOTW specifically is probably my pick for GOAT.

So far I've picked up 3D All Stars, 3D World + Bowser's Fury and Odyssey. I started playing All Stars but moved on to 3D World and have been hooked on that for the past week. Super Mario World is probably my favorite game of all time and it's scratching that kinda itch right now. I want to start Odyssey but am worried the other two will begin to collect dust so I'm trying a finish one first approach.

As a side note, one of the joysticks makes this annoying spring-like noise when it moves. It seems like it's an issue for others online so I may return it for another one.

Thanks,

Just ordered from Amazon. I loved The Witcher on Netflix so I'm sure I'll love the game. Should be here the 14th - 16th.

The Witcher was most definitely not in stock at Target when I was in there this past Friday buying Mario Kart, otherwise I would have picked it up locally.

What a shame though that it's twice as expensive on the switch. It's only $30 on the PS4/Xbox. $60 on the Switch.

It's because it's several years old at this point and it has two MASSIVE expansions that are included in the switch port, but likely not on those PS4 copies you're seeing. And the switch port just came out a few months back. By all accounts they did an amazing job getting it onto the Switch. I'm jealous you get to play it for the first time. It's in my top five games ever.

It says it came out in November of 2019 for the Switch. It also says it's 32 GB download for the switch, which I could never do without buying a Micro SD storage upgrade. I'm not sure if my switch even supports that as I don't see a port other than the game card.

MicroSD is on the bottom. At least on the Switch Lite it is
