Definitive Audiophile pressings

How confident would you be to buy new from a vendor in that listing? Lots available...
If you want the AAA, I personally would not buy a sealed version and I'd want to confirm the runout. I know a bunch of people who bought the discogs listings of "new" on some of the VanMo titles and ended up with the digital sourced pressing. The digital on the Van Morrisons also sound good though, so if it's not a huge deal then you could go for a new one. The barcodes are the same though which is why the listings get mixed up.

Boom Boom AAA Moondance on the Acoustic Sounds discogs! This one sounds awesome. Can probably find an unopened one for not too much more but with not being able to know which are AAA and which are digital until ya open it, might be worth going for an opened one!
This is a nice reminder that I have a UK pressing with cream labels (think it is a first a 1970 pressing but there seems to be lots from that date) up for offer on the International PIF thread if anyone fancies it?

No issues with it from what I can see. I picked it up a while ago but it's not really my thing and would rather see it go to a good home. @Rowan you did claim it at the time and I sent a few follow-up messages for your info but I might have caught you at a bad time and didn't get a response. You can have the first refusal in case anyone else fancies it.

Picked-up a few interesting "audiophile" records over the last few days.

After @TenderLovingKiller® showed-off this Tres Hombres, I had another look into other modern ZZ Top pressings. I ended-up picking up the 2020 Deguelo, which is a repress of the Chris Bellman remaster and pressed at Optimal. I'm spinning it right now and it's phenomenal for the price.

Also, Amazon.ca lowered their price of the Boz Scaggs SC to C$40 over the weekend so I picked it up too (that's a good price for SC's in Canada these days). That one is a Boom Boom AAA cut. I should have said something for the Canadian folks because the price is back up to $68. Sounds fantastic too.

3 years ago I bought my buddy that green Tres Hombres pressing for his birthday for about $29 CAD. I should have gotten one for myself too apparently... $100+ now??

Not doubting anything you've said b/c I know almost nothing about it, but, based on this 90-minute video, it appears Chad isn't too bent out of shape about whatever happened. I suppose it's possible Chad did this to grease the sales wheels, but that's a long time to spend w/ someone you don't genuinely feel good about.

Thanks for sharing this. Really interesting history of the industry in general.

A lot of back-patting going on but still lots of interesting bits. I do wonder how much of what they talk about is snake oil and post rationalisation though. I understand their explanations but whether it all makes that much of a difference is something I cant really visualise.

I could have sworn this one was out of stock recently:

It’s the Pallas pressed “one step” supposedly.
Discogs has a version released on 3/26/2021, so this might be that one
Also intrigued, but hard to justify when I already have 13 of the 16 tracks on OGs that sound really good to me.

interesting. well fingers crossed! the UPC matches the Pallas pressed one.

Not sure if posted but Acoustic Sounds restocked the AP Head Hunters 33rpm.

Craft just announced Dorham’s Quiet Kenny is getting a new AAA release for RSD. The AP is one of the best sounding records in my collection. Really curious to see how this new one turns out

boom boom AAA mono cut of Kenny. I'm guessing they do a stereo wider release later (they did that with one of the Chet titles for RSD awhile back)
