Definitive Audiophile pressings

One of which is good, and two of which are baaaaaad. But which one is the one!?!?!?!?
I've only got one Gotta Groove pressing, the recent Luna-Bewitched reissue, but it's good - clean, quiet and dynamic with a rice paper lined inner. Their repressing of The Fountain sdtrk is on its way to me, hoping it's of similar quality. Cleveland rocks.

Seeing this a bit late, but hoping you stuck to your decision. Even if the vinyl was NM, that box is in rough shape (Maybe VG at best, I would probably grade it G+). My guess is that vinyl is VG+ at best and I would think $500 (max) is more than fair for a VG/VG+ Beatles box in today’s market. (Also, for reference, I purchased a mint Sinatra box in the last month in that price range, so the deals are out there.)
The Sinatra and Beatles boxes are wildly diff value though. You’re not gonna find a Beatles box for $500. One sold earlier this month for $550+ with an absolutely trashed box and water damage. The value on the Beatles one has gone up to pretty crazy prices in the past year

Of those 3 I would rate them in the order they are presented. The few Gotta Groove albums I own have been well done. TMR and MRP are not great though I will say I feel like both have gotten better (Or maybe I’ve gotten luckier) over the past couple years.

You both passed my very biased test! I’ve had really great experience with Gotta Groove and mostly poor experience with the other two. I generally avoid them whenever I can. It’s a shame about Third Man. They have a cool origin story and I want them to be great.....but they aren’t, in my experience anyway.

Same with me. I have I think 5 Gotta Groove pressings and have all been nice. When I buy TMR I know I will not get a great pressing but since it is the only way to get some of their reissues I hold my nose

Great thanks for the info. I’m sticking to my guns, I’ll seek out individual titles instead. I’d never spin Beatles For Sale, Help, Yellow Submarine or the first two, and minimally spin Let It Be, Hard Day’s Night, Mystery Tour, even Sgt Peppers. The only ones I “need” at this point are White Album, Revolver, and maybe Rubber Soul

Gang - are there any Acoustic Sounds coupons floating around? Are they one of those places that never does them? Prices seem to be pretty good as is.

They used to do spend $99, get 10% off in stock items, but that deal disappeared a while back. And now that you mention it, the same thing happened with with Music Direct and Elusive Disc around the same time... I smell collusion, j'accuse price fixers!

Yeah, it seems they have done away with their coupons, but they do offer free shipping with orders over $49 (and let’s face it, most of them are!), and I think they upgrade the shipping method they offer for free with more expensive purchases (I don’t remember the cutoff). The free shipping is just about as good as 10% off and in some cases even better, depending, of course, on math!

I agree about MPO/TMR/MRP. I've have a few things from each that are great. But I've had a lot of problems with TMR and MRP, less with MPO and for a while they were close to the top of the list for me but recently I've had a bunch of really duff pressings from them.

MPO has been solid for me! All those DeAgostini pressings are from there and sound solid. I don't have any hesitation buying MPO pressed albums based on what I already own.

I think all of my Springsteen reissues are MPO, as well as the Lou Reed Arista years set I have and a bunch of others. Those sound really great, so no major complaints here with them, except for maybe a higher than average amount of warps (which I can usually fix).

AP Restocks:

Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Session
Folk Singer
Wonderful Sounds of Female Vocals
Elvis 24 Karat Hits
Lol I was about to post this.

I have the Muddy and Trinity. Both superb!

Isn't a MOFI supposed to put out a one step of Folk Singer?

Honestly, for the price difference is grab the AP and never look back.
