Vinyl Me Please Country

I'd guess they enabled that feature ahead of opening it up later today. Previously that was also a waitlist action button.
Ha, well then...

Not sure how they're going to explain this away, but people are posting it on reddit too and those sleeping in today and logging in a noon to try and get a slot are going to be pretty disappointed.

Is the consensus that the Willie is going to be difficult to acquire in the future? Did Folsom sell out? I know last month's ROTMs usually show as unavailable until we clear the next month, but I don't see it in swaps either.

Pretty sure it sold out, hence the waitlist.

I kind of assumed it did. All 4 ROTMs from March are unavailable in the store and have a waitlist, but they usually do that until we clear the next month. The other 3 (Leon, Cudi, E&A) are all available in swaps though, but Folsom isn't.

I'm not a big country guy, and I was on the fence about Folsom, but decided to pass last month. I really want Willie though, so I'm glad they opened up spots for the add-on, especially since it looks like it's going to sell out too and not available in future swaps. Been trying not to add any tracks on, but 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I think Folsom is sold out, sold out (maybe a few held back for replacements will show up next month in swaps but who knows). There were limited slots in Country to begin with and I think they all filled up for launch. They opened up a few spots for Willie this month but it'll probably sell out again after today. Things will probably open up more when it's Sturgill. I'll probably be down for that but I'm going to have to give Merle a shot before deciding whether I'm going to give it up or not. I know I like Willie, Cash and Sturgill but I'm kind of new to actually enjoying country.

I’m thinking there will be opportunities to get the Johnny Cash and Willie albums in the future. Huge artists and two of the best country albums of all time, there’s no reason they wouldn’t repress it unless licensing is an issue. I snagged an open slot so hopefully that goes through.

I could see licensing being an issue with Cash. Folsom Prison has pretty much always been in print and I could see where reupping the licensing would be pricey.

Johnny's catalog is usually in print but Shotgun Willie hasn't been pressed since 2009 and the reviews were poor. OG prices keep increasing for clean copies. Sturgill is a fantastic album but not worth the premium price IMHO, black vinyl is easy to find at $20. I'm looking forward to Merle, one of my favorite albums which is long overdue for a repress. OG copies are so difficult to find in good condition these days.

Listening to my copy of Shotgun Willie that I got yesterday at Half Price Books. It's got some sibilance to it when Willie hits the high notes. Not on every song but definitely on the first side more so than the 2nd. Not sure if that's just the pressing or if it just needs a good bath. I'm not going to sign up for VMP Country since I think this $15 copy will do me just fine. I'm also not sure I'll listen to this over and over to justify $39. Plus, the next month would be a Sturgill record I already have and it doesn't seem to have any benefit other than the new color. All that said, the color is beautiful on the VMP version and the mastering will be tip top. You guys are in for a treat.

Shotgun Willie was my biggest hope the moment they announced Country would be the new track. While I would've been perfectly content with finding a lesser quality repress, I'm truly excited for this pressing.

The only thing more exciting would be a Phases and Stages AAA store drop on Wednesday.

This new stream has me delving into the past. This weekend, I started listening to Waylon Jennings for the first time. On. My. Gosh.

I have played Honky Tonk Heroes over and over. What an album. 27 minutes. 10 songs. Every one of them is a killer. The humour, the pathos, the drumming (never thought I’d ever say that!)...

For obvious reasons, I hope it makes the cut for the Country Stream.

Honky Tonk Heroes is my favorite country album ever and likely in my top 10 albums of all time.
