Did anyone pre order Soul Station BN CL btw ? I have but am on the fence tbh, seeing first I like other sessions (Roll Call) more, and have the very good rvg digital already ?

No Katanga TP preorder on Amz u.s. yet, just a poorly listed title page.

I plan on ordering Soul Station this month, absolutely love that session. My fiancé also really enjoys the energy of Soul Station which is great

Listening to my copy of Tone Poet today. It's surprisingly good! The slide guitar in particular gives such an interesting airy/ambiance. I didn't know what to expect and grabbed it on a whim, but I'm very happy that I did.
I feel like Charles Lloyd doesn't get the praise he deserves. Nobody sounds like him, and 7 decades into his career he is still pushing the boundaries of jazz and teaming up with young talent.

I prefer his quartet (now quintet) work, but The Marvels are a very unique band too, and this record is very good. If you haven't already, check out his "First look" convo with Don Was, where he tells the story of how he started calling Joe Harley the Tone Poet, which eventually inspired the name for the reissues series. It is only fitting IMO that the first contemporary Tone Poet release is an album of his.

Im glad you raised this, im really looking forward to eventually getting this album. I'm just waiting to find it at a reasonable price (£50+ seems to be the average price here in the UK).
