Then I would consider getting an RCM, because I'm assuming all the solution is not coming out of the grooves of the album, or check your SC process.

I'll have to see if I can take some pictures but I suspect that the suction towards the middle of the record isn't as strong as towards the outside of the record. The outside dries almost completely after one pass but the middle can take as much as 5 passes to be completely dry (90% is removed in the first pass though.)

That said, I will always push the Pioneer PLX1000 at the $500ish price point.........big fan.

What do you like about this one? I've always been under the impression (or misconception?) That DJ style tables don't make good audiophile tables? So it's interesting to see this one brought up twice today.

Its a DJ style table because it's been embraced by that group as such, but way before the PLX, it's weight and motor lend itself well to that DJ scene. BUT, those things are also pluses for an "Audiophile" table
It's built like a tank, produces great sound, a great motor, has all the calibrations an audiophile turntable should have, and if you get cart happy, its a much easier venture. The PLX is every bit an audiophile deck, I've often said, ignore the DJ association and look at the table.
The non-hinged cover is a problem for some, but not a deal breaker in my opinion and I would ditch the rubber mat for something better
At $500, the Fluance is the best deal out there. Up from there, the Pioneer PLX-1000 is a great choice. Another option would because restored Dual from Bill at fixmydual.com. I understand your love of the 1229, I had one myself 35 or so years ago.
I know it is a stupid reason, but I do not love the look of the pioneer. I was considering it as well, but feel like it does not fit with the room.

That has been my general impression.
It's actually impressive as hell that Fluance came out of nowhere and has staged such a formidable challenge in the midrange category. I expected way more horror stories concerning the build and reliability than actually materialized.
Nope. The Technics are audiophile turntables. Designed to be. They were adopted by club DJs due their excellent isolation from vibration and ruggedness.
I’d go Fluance. You also get a $236 cartridge on the $499 price which is amazing.

I suppose my general point was that most of the things about the PLX that people associate with "DJ tables" are actually just things it has in common with Technics decks.
Would you go Fluance over the Dual from fixmydual. Not sure what they charge assuming it it is around same price as the Fluance.
I really like the Dual, but a rebuilt one will cost more. A cheaper one that needs restoration isn’t recommended.
Hivinyws will tell you to get a P1 instead of a fluance or project
Something about cartridge not being the end all be all the rega tonearms infamous quality even though the cartridge is just a rebranded audio technica (audiophile man suggests a project instead for the us but that's more because he has no experience with fluance 85 and he is talking the under 300 range)

Woah! A turntable with no VTA, azimuth or even tracking force adjustment so you’re stuck with that rebadged low level AT forever and ever unless you life messing with shims and the look of blue tack on top of your headshell. Not to mention the insane US pricing levels. That’s an eccentric recommendation!
