Definitive Audiophile pressings

Which ones? I grabbed the '77 that was on sale a few weeks ago and it was the RTI, thankfully.

Edit: oops that was popmarket but don't they share the same stock?

Yes. Popmarket and Deepdiscount are essentially the same store.

I've gotten mostly EU pressings from them. One off the top of my head was the Fleetwood Mac box set.

Optimal press instead of the US RTI pressing - but I didn't have issues with Optimal back then as I have lately.

It a fold out toploader. Total fucking calamity. You basically need a massive flat surface to open up the whole thing so you don't bugger the spine as the slots at the top are so flakey I keep missing them when I try to take it out/ put it in with the package closed. Looks cool but a total goat fuck on the practicality front 😂

the horrible thing here is that I can cringe looking at the design, know that my Oppo isn't even connected to my TV anymore so playing the DVD is a low chance, know that even though my Oppo is connected to the stereo it's rarely used now at Quboz works pretty great so the CDs are well... shiny...

and still know that I'm 100% going to buy that f*cker

77 & More Songs , they both use the RTI plates, so it has the RTI stamp in the dead wax, but pressed at Optimal in Germany.

It's not QRP. But weirdly also not the MOV cat number on the front and BG is in the Deadwax. So looks like an early MOV that possibly tied in to the first QRP press. I think it's this one. Just about to take the dog out into hurricane Whitley Bay but I'll get it cleaned and tried tonight

Haven't played it yet, but I got the MOV pressing. It has MOV in the dead wax. It'll probably still sound good.

Oh, I'll have to double check then. At least I didn't notice any issues.

You might well have the RTI one. Usually you can tell by the look & feel of it. Mine didn't feel like RTI so had a look on Discogs.

this denotes RTI (and is on both pressings):

17876.1(3)

this is the addittional Optimal code:

B 964315-01 A

Mate, as I've said many times. Having gone through the Grateful Dead Anthology saga I'm no longer wedded to the idea QRP are the bastions of all things perfect when it comes to pressings. I've spun the first side. It's really cool. £16 for a double live is aaaaaalright

I just glanced to make sure it had KG @ ATM and noticed the RTI code but I very well could have missed the optimal code. Ok with me either way as it sounded great with no audible pressing issues. I noticed it didn't have the RTI sticker, so I'm betting it is same as yours.

If it sounds good, that's all that matters.

edit - oh, and of course that it was mastered by @MikeH 's special friend / victim

Looks like Bill Withers @ Carnegie Hall is already "Awaiting Repress" on the MoFi site. Just ordered a copy off Musicdirect. Wanted to give anyone who's been on the fence a heads up before it becomes hard to get!

I think this thread might be responsible for this going out of print again! I know I did my part.
