Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I think I'll put the order in for the 2 out of print ones. I'm guessing it'll be at least a month before they ship. Then maybe I'll buy S&R in the next couple weeks. I'm going out of town for Thanksgiving so buying it before I'm back is silly anyways.

I'd probably go that route to start, but I probably listen to S&R more than I listen to either of those albums though.
I gotta give Skull & Roses another listen it seems! haha. In my limited experience so far, I'm good with just owning a handful of live albums from them. I've never been the type to have favorite live versions of certain songs from any bands.

You will with the Dead...live stuff is superior to studio imo

I bought a couple live show CDs and honestly........ i’m a dead head now.

lol I just wish another random discog guy would sell sealed MoFi's for 50% off again. That was nice.
You talkin about that seller someone found on the old forum? I got so much good stuff from him haha. I remember having his discogs page up in a tab on my computer and refreshing it for days haha.

Tbh the Dead has never picked my interest, but all this discussion has made me give a couple of their albums a listen. Man, Live/Dead and Allah are sounding really good to me. Where do these stand in their catalogue? Would you say they're a good representation of their sound for someone who wouldn't want to fill their shelves with a trillion GD records?

Yea--they jacked up the prices on Skull and Roses and in The Dark it seems which sucks...I was eyeing Skull and Roses. You also don't have to go for the best of the best if you're just getting into it. I really like the One From The Vault set as well.

3 LPs, cut by Kevin Gray. Quality is really nice. It's back-ordered (I think LITA does charge on order though if I remember correctly...)
Isn't the source for One From The Vault 16 bit - 44.1k DAT files? That's CD quality bit rates. No need for the vinyl treatment, if so. Unless you don't have a CD player in your system.

Edit: nevermind, i think I'm thinking of a different Dead release from LITA.

Yes, those are two great spots. They are jammier than something like American Beauty/Workingmans Dead.

Agree with @wmeugene American Beauty and Workingmans Dead are always the best place to begin. They are not wholly representative but they are brilliant albums and provide a sturdy base to build off of once you begin to branch out.

Live/Dead may be the best entrance into the band. That album captures epic versions of some of their most beloved songs at a pivotal moment in the bands career.
If there is one awesome thing to come from this anthology is that it’s getting people into an amazing band that has an endless amount of catalogue to explore. Really happy for you and hope you continue to listen to TGOGD

I went from having zero Dead albums to having 10, in six weeks.
