Tomorrow Comes Today (The Gorillaz Thread)

i’ve always been confused by the demon-days elititsts (not that im calling any of you that) that say plastic beach is horrible.

like how could you say you like DD and not PB?? they’re both S-tier material

I will say that I'm probably the odd man out in that DD is my least favorite of those first three. I like it, I just don't love it like the other two. And I never owned it until I got the vinyl.

But yeah, Plastic Beach is still my favorite Gorillaz album by a wide margin.

Agreed with everything you say here.

Ifs a mess, it doesn’t tie together sonically and it gives me a headache. That said it had 2 or 3 songs on there that I love. Superfast Jellyfish and On Melancholy Hill being the main two. Demon Days is just so damn consistent the whole way through and has 4 of their 5 best songs as it’s singles.

Also calling someone an elitist for having a preference is a weird take. Should I call anyone who prefers Plastic Beach, which has to be the majority on here, PB preference braggarts?

honestly, with all this talk about collaborators, I was just thinking how cool it would be if Jamie Hewlett recreated the Sgt Pepper's cover with the audience being replaced with all the artists who've collaborated with gorillaz, the "sgt. pepper band" with gorillaz, and the former Beatles being replaced with cyborg noodle, Russell's ghost demon, and that one character from the powerpuff girls.
I know the whole sgt. pepper rip off has been done to death, but this is one instance where I would welcome it!!

To me it's the opposite. I like a couple of songs off of DD (Feel Good Inc. and Kids With Guns come to mind) but don't really love it as a whole. Plastic Beach is a perfect album as far as I'm concerned. Not a bad song on it. The two Little Dragon songs are probably my favorite though, and Lou Reed's "Some Kind Of Nature".

My deluxe edition of Song Machine came in today. Halfway through and it sounds great. But I can't for the life of me figure out the download code. The site is redeem.warnerartists.com/songmachine and it says I need to sign in but doesn't have a place to register. I made a wmg account using the help website but that apparently isn't the same thing. Anyone have any ideas?

the link in your download code is incomplete, it should read:

Plastic Beach is far and away my favorite album of theirs. Is it their best? Well that's up for discussion of course as everyone has their own opinion of the concept album, but one thing for sure it's their most thematic and cohesive effort. That said, Demon 😈 Days is no lemon 🍋 either.
