Any recommendations to get from the Target sale? Obviously the BNTP series for < $20 each, but wondering what other highlights are out there.
There is a LOT haha. Personally I just always sort by highest to lowest price since the bigger ticket items are the ones where you end up saving the most and you may see something you didn’t want to pay full price on but are fine buying at 33% off list price. For example, I grabbed gorillaz Song Machine deluxe. You can also just look at stuff by pricing ranges. I noticed that if you sort by all high to low, it doesn’t actually show every item available.

Agree with @MikeH, there's a ton to choose from. A few things I was looking at include: new Killers album, Magnetic Fields Quickies, Sarah Jarosz's new album, Suzanne Vega Evening of New York Songs, new Matt Berniniger, some Elvis Costello, some Joshua Redman, new Kathleen Edwards, Clifford Brown's Study in Brown (Verve Acoustic Sound Series), Big Thief, a ton of Nick Lowe, Dawes, Budos Band, Feels, Tegan and Sara, Ron Sexsmith, J. Mascis, Ondara, Garcia Peoples, and on and on...

Just in case the Target sale isn't enough to break the bank, starting yesterday, DeepDiscount has a live 15% off promo code, TREAT. I'd been looking for the John Hicks - Solo Piano "Steadfast" record and found the best deal there with this code (since shipping is free).

Hot Take (from a big R.E.M. Fan): Out of Time is not a good album. Sure, it's got some great tracks but as an overall album it's sequenced weird, it doesn't feel like a coherent piece of work.
Was interesting watching Song Explorer as it's probably the album I listened to most in my teens and less as an adult. The band make it clear its a transitional album and when you look at it in that context the lack of flow in parts makes more sense (although the sum of parts is still pretty special). Plus they just got better. I mean, Automatic is brilliant (recent reissue mastered from the original tapes too, kids) but if it's not super early 'what the fuck is he saying?' REM then Hifi and Monster are the absolute belter, belter, belters in the back catalogue for me. Massively looking forward to the Hifi reissue. In fact it may be the release I'm most excited about over the next few years

Dipped into the Target well twice. Nothing in terms of audiophile releases but price was too good to not check several of the "harder to find at the LCS but still in stock" items off of my wish list (Dessa, Robyn, Rilo Kiley, and Matt and Kim) along with one Christmas gift and Daft Punk Discovery because, well...it's Discovery. That thing still slays. I'm pretty sure I'm tapped out for this run though unless I want to play with the pre-orders. Good times.

A quick look at 'Cogs reviews on the Giant Steps reissue are not promising. Gonna hold off there, but I might bite on A Love Supreme, despite already owning a fine smoke-colored GZ reissue from uDiscover.
FWIW, I didn't my have the distortion/noise problems on my copy. I didn't have luck getting a flat one, but it is playable and sounds good.

I was surprised at the amount of love and acclaim Monster received in convo during recent reissue.
Im the complete opposite to you. I disliked it from the moment I rushed out to buy it on release and it’s never got any better for me.
